Yeah... You can bypass the passthrough connector in the back if you never plan on using it in a dock. That is what the shorter, extra wires are for. You will not be able to find them anywhere but Heartland (Expensive), maybe ebay (Probably cheap)... Or someone on here. I think you need the little 5" long u.fl to u.fl conectors is all....

Hi! If you have a dual connector on docking station port it means the other one is for WWAN. That WWAn has shorter jumper wire. Take it off if you have no plan of installing a WWAN card and use it for wi-fi. I'm sure it has.

    I replaced a i3945abg card with a i4965agn in my cf-19,
but while XP recognized it, the machine BIOS never did.
The "wireless switch" hardware and software all conspired
to indicate that the firmware was keeping hardware rfkill
on, so the new card never turned on its radio.

After a few days of installing all the versions of pro/set
and the cf19 mk1/mk2 software I could think of, I put
    the i3945abg back.

I think u have to tape pin 20 on the new card. Otherwise the card is permanently off.
The laptop-manufacturer want to sell u their cards ;-)

Wow! Thank u for the document!
Now I soldered 2 resistors 200kOhm between pin 20 and pin 52 on the PCI-E-Card-slots on the mainboard of my Toughbook and now I can switch on and off both cards with the wireless-switch. :)

Is there anyway I could get that Service Manual for a toughbook CF-19? I am trying to install a GOBI card in it and want to make sure I am doing it right.

    Thanks,

    Chad

Yes... There is a way... You need to go into the User Control Panel and post your email address... Then check the box that allows others to send you email. You may also want to post your exact model CF-19. (CF-19XXXXXXX)

Then it magically appears in your inbox! ;)

    Welcome to the forum!

Gobi is not supported on CF-19 Mk1, only Mk2 and up.

I doubt you can get it to work.

I tried to ask panasonic support about this, the answer was:
ME: I have Toughbook CF-19CDGCCVM and I want to use a gobi 1000 WWAN card on it. Is gobi 1000 card supported by my loptop?

SUPPORT: Yes it would be supported for your model, but the only 3 carriers supported on the Gobi as of now are ATnT, Verizon, and Sprint
