I don't think I would try it. You need to first see what the difference is between the mk3 and mk4. If I am right they are totally diferent.

Yes, it won't work if it is for different chipset!

What about mk1 - is it close to mk3?

i think the only version with some chances of working is the Mk2 bios, as both mk2 and mk3 are Core2 Duo (U7500, U9300), with Centrino2, simlar speed DDR2.
But you will need the most up-to-date mk2 bios version, so it will have a chance of knowing how to setup the new CPU.

mk4 is a completely new architecture (Core i5) with IMC (memory controller on the CPU), etc. No way it will work.

The chipset is different in the Mk2 vs the Mk3. 965 Intel (x3100 graphics) vs the GS45 Intel (HD4500 graphics)

What is your full model number? I have sent you a link to a possible motherboard replacement from a seller that ships overseas in the PM I sent. I have one of those boards but I don't know if you have a digitizer unit or not.

Very interesting read.My cf19 mk3 dual touch that I bought was well damaged and have had the screen replaced and it too has a custom bios as not a lot works,ie wifi card slot 1394 etc.

Why is it so hard to find a bios file for the mk3.I have a mk3 bios update program if it works but no file to use with it.

dellboykev what sort of job was it to get the bios chip replaced?

Its not something the average guy can do in his shop unless you got $10000.00 + to spend on the machine to do it

I understand what you say toughasnails,it would have to be sent away to get the chip changed by someone with the proper tackle.I have a friend who does car ecu eeproms changes for a living but think this is out of his league.

I don't want to risk bricking it as I am using it now and also without a bios file it isn't a viable option.

At the moment my cf19 works and I have a 3.99 ebay mini wifi dongle in the rear usb for my wifi at home,it would good though, to get it as it should be with everything enabled as it is a cracking machine as is,a good step up from my aged cf18 mk3

I dont think i would want to put a mk2 motherboard in it, it kinda defeats the purpose of getting a mk3 but thanks for the info

Mine is the same model number.
I have read my bios with an universal bios backup tool and opened it with AMIBCP v4.53 and found that everything seems to be enabled but when i use Panasonic pci all is disabled.
My rom file is 4kb but I am confused to why everything looks to be enabled but the pci viewer says not

Try different backup software. 4k is not the complete rom. Try the official tool from the bios mfg.

U not only have to set it to enabled, also change 'access' to 'supervisor'.
Also keep in mind, if u change something, if the module is not active, also enable switch will not work.

You are more than welcome to it if you give me an email to attach it to.

As toughasnails said its not a driver problem the bios is locked.
I have both xp and vista panasonic restore discs and it is still the same.
I have sorted mine though, got myself another damaged mk3 unit of ebay that has no bios passwords. The screen was missing but booted it up with a restore disc and all worked ok so swapped the motherboard into mine and now have a mk3 dual touch with everything enabled and only showing 50 hours, also a pile of bits left over for the next one.

Saw these chips on Ebay recently. Would buy one for my old motherboard if it was compatible as they are listed for a touchscreen model because of the H in the model code.
Does anyone know if the bios will be the same for dual touch and touch

It doesn't matter if you do have ts model or dual touch. Anyway, The touch model can be modified to dual touch by adding a Wacom digitizel panel at the back of LCD and then replace the harness or add the wiring cable for digitizer from the connector for mbo. up to the digitizer panel connector.

Kind of late to the party, but the Panasonic Canada site has a download just now for "CF19K_mk3_BIOSV3.01L22" which is the "BIOS for CF19Kxxxxx series XP OS computers. Do NOT downgrade v3.01Lxx to v3.00Lxx".
    Hope that helps someone.

Thanks but still can`t find it (no chip with L25...). If I`ll send you a picture of the board, can you mark on it where`s the chip?

We have several working pc's with bios pass (no one can remember what's the pass) and several bad mothersboards (no pass on them for sure), so I want to change the chip.

    :) I wrote 25L644SE, not L25 ... :)
Normaly there is not a lot to do in a Panasonic BIOS and there are other options too, to adjust things, even in the BIOS.
But nevermind; yes of course, post a pic and I will try to point u on the IC.

Because of the BIOS-chip, why don't u look under the backup battery ;) And keep in mind to pull the plug of the battery if u are working on the board.
Which com-port are u referring to? What is ur problem? The SuperIO SIO10N268 will u find in the 1.pic top right besides the connector (Doesn't it make sense to move ur problem in a new thread?)

No, I don't think this is the correct chip. I had said under the battery. near the hole with a bigger area of copper is the 8 pin IC.
I told u in the post above, what the IC for COM-port etc is. Maybe a problem in a connector/flex-cable to the sideboard or a surge protection chip was killed.
