hello toughasnails I am new to this page but have been reading alot of the threads and posts and see that you are really knowledgeable about the cf_19s and was hoping I could ask you a few questions. I just purchased a cf-19kdrag6m from fleebay and i got it without an operating system installed and no disks and saw you mentioned that you have a cf-19 mk3 disk. I was wondering if you would be willing to sell it or do you know where i can purchase it and also what would be the best OS to install in this unit. I would like W7, do i have to install xp tablet first or can i install win7. I have 4gb of ram installed in this unit, 160gb hard drive and any advice you maybe able to give me or guide me thanks i would appreciate any help.
All the best steve -

I will check and see if I still have it.

Steve, this is how your unit was configured from factory:
Model Number:
CF-19KDRAG6M
Status:
DISCONTINUED
MSRP:
$2,000
Description: WinXP Tablet (Vista COA), Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 1.20Ghz (Centrino2), vPro, 10.4" XGA Dual Touch, 160GB, 2GB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN/Lower:WLAN), TPM, Bluetooth, Gobi, No Drive, Toughbook Preferred, replaced with CF-19RDRAG1M
As you can see, it came w/Vista downgrade to XP Tablet. To load W7 you will need a W7 COA. -
Thanks Toughasnails let me know if you find it. I called Heartland today and they said they would get back to me tomorrow if they have the OEM restore cd for my CF-19KDRAG6M.
I got some helpful answers from Shawn on another thread about my options available, as far as an OS. To install either XP Tablet or WIN7 so I think I will go with WIN7 Ultimate since he advised me that it will work on this CF-19 and he said he would install win 7.
Also thank you MKLYM for your help, I have W7 coa. I was thinking I had to go out and buy a xp tablet 2005 operating system because that is what this CF-19 originally had installed and if I buy an OEM specific backup cd for this CF-19KDRAG6M the cd and drivers would not work because I was installing win7 and that it would only work with xp tablet so I am now headed in the right direction with the goal to getting this machine working to its ultimate performance and will be a very happy camper so thanks again to you guys for you help take care steve -
Heartland has the restore disk you asked for in stock, just called them yesterday also, nice lady will take your order over the phone. You just have to tell her you want the Vista disk.
You can then follow the threads found in my signature to upgrade Vista to Win7 if you wanted to. You could also save some time and money and try Linux Mint 15 Xfce for free by downloading from here: Linux Mint 15 "Olivia" - Xfce (32-bit) - Linux Mint
I just love it when something installs easily and just, works! Cleve -
CF-19MK3 has an official/OEM Windows 7 32bit recovery disk. If you don't have just installed win 7 of your choice and download all the drivers from pana site. Its fully supported. Check it out and follow instruction on loading those drivers.

Hi All,
i think this site is great as i have been reading for some days now for information on the CF-19.
Anyway i bought this CF-19CDB26VE to use in the motor trade as a diagnostic unit, but i have tried to find out what spec/os and so on it should have and installed. I also looked at the site mentioned some pages before and it comes up with no match in the search for this model number.
Can anyone help as i can't find the spec on it so in turn don't know what i should have ie:
touch screen/dual touch...............at the moment it only works with the pen which has 2 buttons on the side and a grey nib
os is XP Tablet PC Edition, is this right?......if wrong what should i get and where......i live in France
Thank you for any input anyone has
I also got the CF-VDRRT3 usb optical drive -

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum
This is as much as I could find for you
CF-19CDB26VE
C: Intel Core Duo U2400 1.06GHz (Centrino 2)
D: 10.4" digitizer
B: 80GB HD, 512MB RAM, dual RF
2: ??
6: Gobi (Upper: WWAN, Lower: GPS)
V: XP Tablet
E: non North America (U.K.)
Yours is a digitizer so it will only work with that pen and not your finger
Below is a picture of how you can tell what you have for a screen...the digitizer has the bigger hole for the pen.
-
I would load whatever OS works best with your diagnostic software. Check it first. I would try W7 on it personally. But your software might only work with XP depending on how old it is. -
You have a digitizer model, so XP Tablet edition is right. It is a Mk1 so to load Windows 7 first it needs a BIOS update. The reason it does not show in the Panasonic configurator is the "26" in the model number means special configuration for a company.
-
Thank you toughasnails and Toughbook......
Yes its the digitizer pen slot...........so that's that question answered......
What upgrades can i do....like the 512ram upto 4g?
i also found on here about ssd like the Samsung 840 Pro Series SSD 256GB SATA
Ok installing any os that's best for the diagnostic software is XP 32bit, as most of them run only on 32bit. Most of the developers use winXp as they know the platform to work from.
I would like to put XP pro 32bit on it but a few pages back you talked about a restore disc is much easier than finding and installing drivers yourself. I found a website in the USA that has the panasonic restore dvd for most of the CF-19's but its not clear on which xp it is. Or is it not to hard to use a XP pro disc and put the drivers on in the order you spoke about earlier.
Thank you again all help is welcome....
Paul -
The restore disk will be XP Pro but you will have to install every update released by Microsuck after the initial release of your model.

hi everyone again,
thank you for all your help.
Ok just started to install all the diagnostic programs while i save up for a ssd.
Diagbox for pugs and Citroen went on no prob, started to install Renault Can clip and the install wizard unpacks most of the software then stops and tells me this "Your operating system will not allow the installation of this version of CLIP, Please use Windows XP, Vista or Seven
I have looked on the MS website and it says that tablet pc edition 2005 is compatible with programs that can be installed onto win xp pro, which is what it was running on my old laptop with can clip.
So do i need to do change or download anything to load the software, if not and i install win xp pro is all the drivers available for xp pro for the digitizer screen ect ect.
Thank you for your help...
Paul -
All of the XP tablet PC features were incorporated into XP sp2. If you run XP sp2 or above, you will have ALL of the "XP Tablet PC" features.
Don't bother to install XP Tablet PC..Run XP Pro with sp3.....

Hi all,
thank you for the help so far.
OK the software i am installing to diagnose faults on cars, some of it will install on xp tablet and some will not. So i went on a site i use for car software faults and was told that it will not install on xp tablet, so i installed xp pro on a new hdd that i put in the toughbook.
Which wet quite well with finding drivers.
I have a few problems still....which are
No tablet fictions ie the buttons on the front except the brightness one.
The digitizer pen dont work
No on screen keyboard
So i have looked on the net for quite some time and found that tablet and pro are 2 different os's and unless you are a computer wiz and nick some of the files from xp tablet and put them in a xp pro disc you can't have the functions in xp pro.
So is there any way to sort this out or should i load vista as this has tablet functions installed from the start. If i do install vista is there any info on how to and what to turn off to speed it up as this toughbook is old and only a duo 1.06
Thank you for any help

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP includes Tablet PC Edition 2005 and is a free upgrade. This version brought improved handwriting recognition and improved the Input Panel, allowing it to be used in almost every application. The Input Panel was also revised to extend speech recognition services (input and correction) to other applications.
I think you have drivers issues.. -
Hi
Thank you very much for the help.......:hi2:
Ok The xp pro disc was one a friend made up with the drivers for the hdd and sp3 slip streamed on the disc, also no product number needed.
Think that might be the problem if all the tablet support is in sp2
You might be right about the drivers..........so i will buy a genuine xp pro disc with only sp1 A on it and install that.
That link looks very good.....do you know if it will work as i have looked around for some time now and everyone said no unless you make a disc with some of the tablet drivers and stuff in it to load from a clean install.
thank you for any help......

Paul,
I used that link to transform XP into Tablet on a CF-18 MK2. It worked well and adds some tablet specific programs.
But as other have said, it sounds like you have driver problems. Drivers need to be installed in a specific order. -
You can get Tablet here: Motion Computing LE1600 LS800 Recovery and Drivers CDs Win XP | eBay
I can't speak for the copies, but you should be able to find real ones. You will be able to load Tablet but you will still have to deal with all the Panasonic specific drivers.

Motion Computing LE1700 Recovery and Drivers Kit Win XP | eBay
This "looks" like the LE1700 tablet xp disk, but I would ask questions to make sure. This one is original, not a copy.
Motion Computing LE1600 LS800 Recovery Drivers Application 3 CDs Win XP SP2 | eBay
That is the set I have. I got it when I was playing with a LE1600. Tested the disk out on 18/19 and it was all good. That is the factory original set. -
Hi All,
thank you very much for all the reply's much appreciated.
first off yes i was dumb and forgot that you have to install the drivers in a set way or things don't work......very sorry about that one wasn't think straight at the time i installed them.
That link about turning your xp pro into xp pro with tablet functions......well all the MS links work just the link at the end doesn't.
Ok first one... i have now downloaded all the drivers for cf19 mk1 xp sp2 about 42 of them, do i need any from cf19 mk1 xp tablet side as i have the digitizer screen and need a driver for that to work.
Second one....i have looked at the installation procedure and it looks like i can install some of the drivers in any order and some i have to follow the procedure on how to install them next to the install procedure.......is this right as i have only had a quick look at the procedure download, and there is no numbering next to the software name....will print it off in a bit.
Thank you All, for all your help it getting my toughbook closer to up, running and working in xp pro mode so i can install my diagnostic programs.
Paul -
Sorry forgot to ask about installing the drivers/software...
do i start at the top of page 1 and work my way down the list to page 5? -
You will have to find the WACOM driver elseware as it comes pre-installed on Tablet XP, the driver isn't on the Panasonic website.

Hi All,
thank you for the input it all helps....
Ok installed the drivers from Panasonic as per the list. 2 of the drivers didn't load as per the install procedure, they were both the drivers you have to install in Device Manager.
I found a wacom driver package that has made the digitizer pen work ok.
All i have now is one question mark in Device Manager with a ID code: ACPI\MAT001F\2&DABA3FF&0
which i have googled and find some information but not enough to sort the problem. So any info on this will be helpful.
All the hotkeys on the keyboard with the Fn key pushed, Its just the tablet keys on the side that do nothing except the brightness, that works......so do i need to enable something? or need more software to run them.
Thank you very much

Did you install the "Tablet Buttons Driver" and "Tablet Buttons Manager Application" ?

I just found a post a few years back and the Tablet PC buttons driver is ACPI\MAT001F

Hi All,
thank you for the input for getting my cf 19 back on track.
I think i mucked up the driver install procedure.
So i did a bit of searching on the web and the only info i could find on what procedure to install the drivers was on here, "HOWTO: Install Windows 7 on a CF-18 mk1 Digitizer"
Also on here some have posted that the CF-18 procedure is basically the same as the CF-19.
So if i follow the above procedure apart from the win 7 bits, is the rest the way i need to do the driver install.
Thank you for any help

Hello all,
I have multiple CF-19 MK1 toughbooks that have all of a sudden lost touchscreen functionality. I have attempted imaging from our FOG image server with no success. I have attempted removing firmware, updating firmware and rolling back firmware as well. All other function work except for the touchscreen. Thoughts?
These are refurbished units and are all from the same order from a year ago. They are outside of warranty. Other units from the same purchase order work fine and are the same image and MK. -

Yes, sure does
EDIT:---- Just checked the installed COA with "SPECCY"
Doesn't match the COA label! <GLOOM>
Since the label is Panasonic, I will try to change the installed COA to match the label with the <Control Panel -- System> screen.
Will probably have to phone chat with the nice folks at Micro$oft and enter a sheet full of 6 digit confirmation codes to enable me to re-activate it.
B.T.D.T. in the past with an auctioned system without a HDD but with a COA label still attached to the case.
Research seems to indicate that the Mk3's came with XPPro.
Is this true?
Do I install the drivers for XP Pro or Win7?
Cheers

Panasonic sells the recovery discs for $35.00 US
I am working on an Asus U56E...not mine.
Failed HDD
1.5 GB of DRIVERS
recovery DVD costs $50.00
I promise to not complain about the $35 Panasonic charges...:hi2: -
Do you have a url link to the disk purchase screen?
I have perused the "support" sections of both the US and JP sites.
They seem more intent on flogging their latest wares ..... ;-)

And yes, my Mk3 model is listed under the XP Pro disk selection field and is NOT listed under the model field for the Win7 Pro disk <GLOOM>
I am puzzled ..... obviously my currently installed Win7 pro is not original, but where did the COA label come from?
I really examined the label physically last night and it looks as original as the ones on all my other machines!

Your Win7 pro is original, my guess the last owner did not have the restore disk when he reloaded W7
-
I do have this. I can sell it to you and you can download it from my private server.
Please PM me if you're interested.
Thanks!toughasnails and Shawn like this. -
But I am still puzzled where the P/O got the Panasonic Win 7 COA that is stuck on the bottom.
