im trying to install a wifi pcmcia card on a cf-25. it is a linksys wpc11 v4. i am trying to install this to windows me, it installs the soft and recognizes the device, but it is disabled due to irq not being set. i tried to download the mk3 first aid disk, but i dont have a floppy drive for this laptop, just cd. i did get linux cds to boot so i tried burning to cd instead of floppy but no luck. btw i have puppy linux installed on another hard drive and it picks up the wireless no problem, it just prefeorms much slower than the windows install. any help would be greatly appriciated. thanks Bob

Any settings in the bios that you can change?
Any devices in the bios or in device manager that you can disable to free up irq's?

Bob.... Is the CF-25 even capable of running ME? RAM... CPU speed.... You may want to check. It may be too slow.

The CF-25 has three PCMCIA slots and the very top slot has always been problematic with irq assignments. Have you tried your card in one of the lower two slots?

The card you are using is probably a cardbus card. The CF-25 bios doesn't like cardbus cards. The MK2 version doesn't even like 3.3 volt wifi PCMCIA cards.

If you have the Diag25.exe program from the first aid disk, you could try to ad this to your autoexec.bat: DIAG25 /CMOS 4A 80. This might solve the IRQ problem for some cards. I had mild succes with this adding an USB2.0 card, but never got it working completely.... :(

Best is to get a Cisco AIR-PCM350 card. They are compatible with Windows 95 and even the oldest CF-25's. It's a 5 volt card.

Yeah, but its an antique and doesn't support modern WiFi security. I sure wouldn't go back to WEP just so I could connect with that CF-25...
