First, I want say hello to all the toughbook community, I had no idea this forum existed, thank you for keeping the best portable alive. I need help.
I have this CF27 for three years bought it for 75was not running, I refurbished it, installed 2000 on it, and enjoy the outdoors and work with it until my screen started acting up, it started with something like a hard to warm up, it has now deteriorated to a bunch of stripes in pink and blue shades.
I cannot find the video card to replace it or any indication on how to fix the screen, if I attach a monitor I can see everything is working fine.

Hi! Your LCD is failing it need a replacement. Look for "Gravitar" forum id name he can help you. I know that he has a bunch of cf-27 for sale and for free. Try to review his post on BST. Good luck and welcome.

    Welcome to the forum

You have already narrowed down your problem to the display
If an external monitor works its not a video problem
The easiest solution is a complete display replacement
That way it would replace both the inverter and backlite

    As ohlip says

Forum user name gravitar is one of the regulars here that are into the cf-27’s
And probably a few others here have parts for these

Do you have a 10” screen or the 12” ?

Thank you for the reply, both Ohlip and Tomcat.
I have the 10 inch screen, it must be a MkI model, it has a 266 pentium on it.
Fortunately it appears that I have narrowed the problem, but I regret to part with it; it has been so good, emails, Manuals, maps, charts and GPS. This little machine is awesome with 198 megs for memory.
I will search "Gravitar", and see what comes.

Found a screen. 10" touch out of a MKIV. Working fine but has a fair amount of wear and no screen protector, still very usable. Its yours if you want to pay shipping. Try to find Gravitar to see if it will swap out, I don't know.

KK... Welcome to the forum and to the world of Toughbooks. Gravitar is a user here so seek out threads with his name in them and PM him.... He will be glad to get rid of some of the parts I am sure... If he still has them...

Thank you Toughbook, I will do that for sure.
    Have a question:
Are Recovery CD's still available for the CF-27's? If so, where can I get one for my Cf-27LBAGHEM, with W2000 on it?

I've been using CF-27s for 6 or 7 years and am a serious Toughbook parts seeker and I have never seen a set of restore disks for sale. I do have every driver for every MK of CF-27 for every os up to W2K. KK is hooked up with what he needs, but he will have to load them himself.

Edit: Alex posted while I was typing, I guess he's a bigger pack rat than I am!

Its funny that out of all the toughbooks that I have owned , I have only had one cf-27
I bought my first cf-25 in 1998 new and it took me quite a few years to get over the high price that I paid for it, that I skipped the cf-27 models and went straight to a new cf-28 mk-2 when they came out
The cf-27 that I had was used, but must have been a spare unit as it didn’t have a scratch on it
I bought it because it had an expensive backlight rubber keyboard and a Lind dc adapter and cd drive
I put the keyboard on my cf-28 and kept the lind adapter and sold the cf-27 for what I had paid for it

Follow up on the restore disk
The disk that I have is for a mk-2 unit with w98
And its probably not even the w98se

I know now why the disk is still new as I would of installed w2000 on the cf-27
