I have a Cf-28 P3 800mhz with XP Pro installed. My work just gave me a AT&T laptop USB connect card, the Sierra Wireless "lightning". I am unable to get this thing working. The software is installed, but I guess my USB port is still 1.1. I just tried a PCM adapter that was supposed to give me USB 2.0, but it won't run the connect card. When I connect right to the USB port in the back of the computer, it will work for a little bit, but then reset itself and I loose my internet connection for a few minutes. Do I need to update something?? Short of selling it and getting a cf-29, what can I do?

Have them provide you with a PCMCIA aircard or pick one up on Ebay that will work with your service.

My suggestion: put your SIM card into either the Sierra AirCard 860:

    or AirCard 881:

    PCMCIA card.

Works great and easier to keep up with. :)

I think I'm just going to get a CF-29, I wanted a new one anyways. Thanks for the help though.

Even with the CF-29, you would still be better off with the 881 card in the PCMCIA slot, or better yet, find a CF-29 that has the AT&T modem and you can put your card in there and not use the adapter.
