What is the full model number

I have never had a Toughbook that has a custom logo
That info might be in a permanent section of the bios that will not update or clear when you flash the bios

I have never updated using a cd ( so i am not sure if that works)
    The steps that I use
    Update from floppy
Make sure battery and ac adapter are used as it will not update without
Make up floppy with bios file and make it bootable
Or put bios files on disk and use another bootable disk and boot to floppy
    Type A:
    Put in bios floppy
    Enter dir
That lists the files on the floppy
Look for the .exe bios file and enter it

Alex I believe that you are right the splash screen can't be flashed over with a bios update. Our friend might have to go to the bios mods forum and see if they can help. Pheonix bios' are difficult to modify so if they can't help he may just have to get used to it.

etc ,try different combinations on the bios upgrade files
Best I can do as you did not report the file names found

Looks like it's not going to flash
    You could try ECMOS.exe
It's been a few years that I have updated the bios on these, the new toughbooks update in windows
