I recently got a cf-28 off ebay and I would like to get the recovery disk for it. Is there a place that I can download it from or is it something that I should post a WTB ad for in the buy/sell/trade forum. I am interested in upgrading the HD and the OS is doing some odd things. My toughbook is a cf-28ptjazqm which makes it a mk2 I believe(I have been searching the forum). Thanks

    vwfool,
They are really scarce but if you can get your hands on a XP disk you can load it yourself with the drivers from Panasonic.ca. Go there, download all the drivers for your model and check out the discussion under CF-18 buttons. Don't worry, the CF-28 is a walk in the park compared to the CF-18. You'll get a great deal of satisfaction out of doing it yourself and learn a bit about your computer. YOU CAN DO IT!

Sorry, but there is no legal way to download OEM recovery discs. You need to contact the manufacturer.

Also, if you have a COA key on the bottom of the notebook and have an XP disc available, you can use the key during installation.

The post above had good advice on this issue, however this thread is staying closed because of the recovery disc issue. Once you get legal recovery discs or regular XP discs, feel free to open up a new thread to get help with downloading drivers (free and legal) as well as how to set up the CF-28.

VW... You cannot download a Recovery Disk!... You need to get those from the manufacturer. (Or www.heartlandsi.com) You are asking for the wrong thing. Please read the forum FAQs and repost your question!

I reviewed this thread; it can stay open as long as there's no talk about downloading recovery discs.

I apologize for the suggestion that I am trying to pirate something. I have been to the www.heartlandsi.com link but there isn't a online store open. Do I call them and ask for what I need (I also need the plastic corner bumper by the power input). Thank you.

Well no need for that Mario
I have a new set of disks that I can send out tomorow
And the bumper will be available from a member here as well
Is it the bumper for the lcd cover that you need?
    Or the bottom foot ?

The plastic bumper that I need is directly to the right of the power port on the computer not the screen. If you know the correct name or part number I will post a WTB ad in the buy/sell/trade forum. I assume it is the bottom foot? Thank you for the help.

Ok I think I know what you mean
Its the plasic triange thingy that sandwiches up and down on the corner to protect the side?
Its not the metal leg just the bumper?

correct- it is just the plastic bumper not the metal leg that is broken. The one on the opposite back corner has the word "lock" on it for some reason. Thanks.

Ok then I will look for one for you and include it when I send your disks
Just give me a couple of days as my parts are scattered all over the place and I have to dig around
I think that I have a bumper somewhere

    Mario,
It says lock because that's where the Kensington or similar locking cable fits if you have one to keep your Toughbook from going out for a walk without you.
