I bought this laptop off of e-bay it works great except for the usb port doesn't work. Is there any way to check it , or could the drivers not be working properly. What does it show in the device manager, for the usb? Thanks

Device manager should show a USB... You will most likely have to pull it apart and see if the USB needs either resoldering or replacing. It can be done. Heck, I resoldered a mini USB port onto a Razr phone... You can do it.

I think these get broken because people stick USB keys in the back and forget about them... Then they pick them up and set them down on their end... Ask me how I know!

You can try Heartland (Google it.)They sell lots of parts. I would think that any PC board mounted USB could be made to work... But to play it safe you may want to buy the correct one to start with. Either that or you could buy a parts laptop and pull it from there.

I have an spare 2 of them used but still in good condition. I pulled this USB from an hp with dead mbo coz i know that this thing is very rare indeed. Cf-28 usb is on upright position, right? make sure you buy the same type. Just let me know.

Note: Try not to deal to ebay member "CANADAPOSTS" I bought an item to this guy and he sent me a junk one and almost fall apart for an amount i say a price of cf-28 on the market right now, instead i got cf-m34 300Mhz supposed to be 700Mhz and i never recover the amount paid off. That is the risk on evilbay and paypaless.

 I did this today....and yep my USB port no longer works and is loose. Just got this 28 last week! I have a AKE PCMCIA USB card on the way but would still like to have the rear USB port work. To try and fix this looks like I'm pulling the main board? I guess I wont know untill I see it but hopefully I can solder it back on?
