I think you've got a wrong keyboard. Maybe its the electrominiscent one with three ribbon cable. Its for Cf-28 that need an iverter and sensor. Is it the same with this one?

Yeah... Those are made for the CF-28 and must be used with an inverter PC board.... That most CF-28s don't have.

I have several of those keyboards in my shop....

I made the mistake with the EL keyboard for the CF-28. Tried to install it in the wife unit's CF-29 with no joy! Still have it lying around somewhere!

well the company that sold me it,has offered me a full refund, but they are going to also try and see if they can get hold of the right keyboard for me,which is good news on one hand, but annoyed on the other hand expecting something to work straight away and it didn,t,but in the meantime ive got my cf-18 to sort out ;)

I believe that for the CF-28,the proper rubberised backlit kbd's don't use an inverter board (and only have two connectors - someone could chime in if that's wrong), but the non-rubberised ones (chicklet or whatever people tend to call them) do. I assume that when the CF29 came out the setup for backlighting kbd's was improved? Spotted a few CF29's for sale here but at ludicrious prices.

That is kinda what I remember too. But I also remember what TB said that 28's COULD use the 3-cable kind but it required a separate PCB to power the back-light function and that mounted under the keyboard-top-cover-thingy-that-has-to-be-removed-before-you-can-remove-the-keyboard. YOU LIKE THAT TECHNICAL PARTS IDENTIFICATION, DONT YA!!! hehe

I like the 2 connector keyboard
They work without a problem with that 3rd power wire
I have even put them on a cf-72 semi-rugged toughbook
The cable length my be a small issue ,but I have installed them ( at a bit of an angle) on every model

The rubberized illuminated keyboard with two cable ribbon also works on Cf-29 and the only thing that you have to remember is that it is a bet short of cable. You must position the keyboard upright 90 deg. while you are installing the cover.
