Or be really cheap and cut the plastic hinge off and replace it with a piece of thin nylon webbing. Did this just for the heck of it. Looks crappy/works fine. I was going to sew it with my saddle stitching machine but the glue seemed to do the job. This is on a unused bottom half. If you are on the road it will get you home. :)

    Take care

    Jeff

chingon, I can see you do not sell on ebay. After I pay all the fees like....store cost per month / listing cost / sold fees / paypal fees / shipping fees it cost over $4.00 to sell 1 port cover and that is not counting me buying the cover and having it shipped to me from heartlands ($35.00 S/H). Yes if the seller buys more than one I can make money but most buy only 1 cover at a time. Making $2.00 on a port cover.....it cost me that for gas to the post office. :D

You know, despite the U.S. Postal Service's financial problems they still make at-your-door pickups. ;)

I comment at times when members link an ebay listing here if I see sensible shipping

    Time is money guys

And as Blair says the paypal fee's ebay listing fee's packaging fee's add up
$35 from heartlands is fine in my opinion if you add to the order and make it worth your while

Remember Blair did not make this part himself ,he bought it from heartlands and paid from what he reported in another post $45 for shipping and handling
Thankfully he had a few item that he bought all at once

Over half the time when I send out a small item to someone I don't charge a cent for it
If I charged what my time is worth to me ,we lets just say I would look like a thief

And when I sell something if I am charging shipping I don't increase the cost where small items are added as the time envolved has not changed

I didn't mean to point any fingers. I was merely suggesting someone might be parting one of these out in the for sale section. And yes, I'm a regular seller on ebay....but I'm reasonable with my pricing.

This is how I solved that issue for my cf-29, Chunk o' aluminum machined to fit with a nice knurled chunk to grab. I haven't gotten around to drilling and tapping a hole for the chain tether. Right now I just grab it when I leave the house. The groove was a mistake caused by the previous user messing up the the autofeed handle and it fell into gear.

Looking at this i'm not sure if the groove is all that bad
If you could put an O ring on there...well that would keep a good seal

That would be a good Idea but with the rubber that is already there it would be too much of an interference fit, I actually have to use silicone grease to get it to fit nicely now.

You could probably market those things on the forum. I would be interested in one for a reasonable price.

Same here , I like the idea of an environmentally responsible product ,using recyclable aluminum ,to replace that plastic part that needs continued replacement which probably contains PVCs/BFRs

If I had access to the lathe, I would happily do that but unfortunately I made it in class. I want to get a mini lathe for stuff like that.

You would think by now these were made from polymer. Would have settled for another metal flap to open. On my 2nd cover now.
