Do you have a built-in gps?
Alex -
The old CF-28 used to have this issue when the stock GPS was installed and XP was used. There was a "Serial Ballpoint" driver in Device Manager that you could turn off to stop the shaking mouse. You may have a bad screen. I had a friend that ust happened to with issues that you describe... He had to replace the screen.
Check your connections and if you have GPS.... Check for the Serial Ballpoint in DM.... -
I also have an experienced with this jumping mouse eventhough I don't have a gps installed on the unit. I think little bet of clean up will solve your problem.Ask me where to start. Not on the touchpad but make sure it is also clean. Secret!
ohlip -
yes i have built in GPS
-
i could not find the serial ballpoint in device manager? and if my screen is dying is it hard to change it? thanks
-
right click on my computer then select properties. After that select the hardware tab at the top and click on device manager. Look for a serial ballpoint driver in the list somewhere.
If the screen is bad it is not that hard to change. The hard part is keeping it clean between the LCD and touchscreen so when you put it back together you dont see dust in between them.
Try the serial ballpoint driver first. Next i would format the drive and start over if that does not work. Then make sure you load the driver next time.
If the screen is indeed bad there is one on ebay right now.

cap,
I'm with Tomcat, TB, and Zippy. The computer thinks the gps is a mouse and apparently the serial data stream is moving the cursor around the screen. Uninstall the serial Ballpoint Mouse. Do not however dismiss Master Ohlip. He always seems to have something under his sorcerer's cap. Welcome to the forum. Are you a real captain like Tomcat and I?
CAP -
there is no serial ball point mouse in the device manager i looked through all of them. and no im not a captain my last name has cap in it (Capodilupo)
thanks -
Look under "Mice and other pointing device" of the device manager If not your in big trouble.
ohlip -
nothing under mice and other pointing besides touchpad/touchscreen i guess im in big trouble lol
-
Ok! is your touchpad clean?
ohlip -
it is clean no dirt or anything on it if that's what you mean right now the mouse is not moving but when i shut it off and put it back on it will go crazy and click things and moves uncontrollably but stops if i shut it off and on a couple of times i also noticed my cd-rom made a noise today and the computer froze so i took the drive out and it unfroze and put the drive in it may have not been pushed in all the way
-
Your really in trouble.
ohlip -
Go into the BIOS and disable the GPS if the jumping stops then it is not your touchscreen/pad. Your problem is that Windows is detecting your GPS as a serial mouse that you need to disable.
-
i will try that but i also had vista on this and it never happened this just happened when i installed xp thanks
-
It's a quick and easy test.
-
yes that worked thankkkk you now does any one know how to fix this so i can use the GPS aha???
-
If it is working properly on another OS it means a software issue not hardware issue.
ohlip -
will it be alright to use the same winxp disk that i used before?
-
Now that you have determined that your problem is the GPS then you need to locate the Panasonic registry fix that prevents Windows from detecting the GPS as a mouse. Others can tell you where to get the file.
-
ok thanks.....does anybody know were i can get the files?
-
Here is a link for a MK2 CF-29

that one did not work my laptop modle is cf-29htlgzbm

thankyou that installed but i turned the GPS back on and mouse is still crazy no idea is there anything else i can do?
-
I usually troubleshoot gps com port problems with an external gps
When you boot with an external gps windows finds new hardware and installs in device manager under mouse and pointing devices either Microsoft serial ballpoint mouse,or something similar.
When that happens you have no control over your curser to even get into the device manager, so you disconnect the gps, and then access the device manager, and disable the serial ballpoint under mice properties.
If the built-in gps is not enabled in the bios the device manager will not show the problem.
So that means you will never see it in the device manager unless you have enabled it
And when you enable it it goes crazy and you have no control of your curser to disable it.
If occasionally you can boot with it not going crazy what works is to then go into device manager
Open mouse menu
Click somewhere to search for new hardware
And when it finds the serial mouse Quickly disable it

if i installed that serial ballpoint would that work? but i will try wut tomcat said
-
***NO****
There is is problem with w2000 and wxp in regards to gps
The operating system finds the signal coming in from the gsp and then mistakes it for a mouse
Then it installs the software for the mouse
The gps signal's are then enabled and it controls your curser
Thats the crazzy mouse bug
The way to deal with it is to override windows

Tomcats Know about mice

You say there was no serial mouse in device manager? I tend to believe it is there but you need to click the little Plus next to the mouse and pointing devices to expand the branch. You need to disable this mouse while the GPS is enabled it isn't easy but it is doable it is easier to use the touch screen for this task. -
no there is nothing there
-
When you applied the GPS patch did it successfully apply?
I had a problem with the patch not applying and it would make the mouse jump all over the screen.
Go into your bios and disable GPS. Keep running the notebook for a while and see if the mouse still has problems. If it does it is not related to the GPS.
-James -
i did the patch again and it worked thanks
cf-29 mouse keeps moving by its self
