Hello all,
Trying to make a small contribution to the community since you guys are so good to all us neophytes!
I just went through an issue with using the wrong charger with my CF-29 and subsequently had to remove the MB. In the process I damaged the touchpad wire connecting to the MB.
Here of some pics of the damage and repair in case anyone needs them.

This is the damage cause by pulling the wire out impropperly. you can see the third wire band in from the top is peeled off the plastic

This is the wire in the scissors. I just used regular scissors.

This is the wire after surgery. I cut it about where the white line was in the first photo. Not the prettiest cut but it worked. not even straight really.

This entire procedure was done with the MB in place. One tip is to remove the plastic sled above where the HD slides in (3 screws) and peel the tape up so you have some slack on the wire. This slack makes all the difference when trying to plug the wire back in! Otherwise you are making love to the silly thing for 45 minutes!
Touchpad works great!
Good luck!

Yours, was not as bad as the first time I wrecked mine
Every contact was stripped off on mine
I was able to trim and get it working again
I hate the touchpad connector as it's hard to get at , and if you are in a bit of a hurry like I was the first time you wreck the contacts -
Alex, "First time" now that made me smile...
It is a sneaky one if you aren't looking for it when you lift the MB you rip it right out.
What is the deal with the foam rubber on top of the clamp on that connector? With it in place it is impossible to disconnect or reconnect it properly! What is the purpose of that foam. I ask because i closed mine back without it!!!

cool repair, good pictures, must have been a good pair of scissors, wonder if a straight pair of broad nail clippers could work if held at proper right angle............Driller

It is a rubber stopper to prevent the latch to accidentally open it up from vibration or something. FYI

Thanks Ohlip, i will try not to vibrate it much... ha ha.So why don't the other connectors have those? Or did mine all vibrate off?
Brian -
Oh!, man.. Your cracking me up..Lol..They usually used that on a vertical hanging position connector. As you notice if the rubber stopper still on top you can't open the latch. A gravity also a big factor to consider.

Great thinking on how to "cut it" Beavis!
oh sorry I had to!!!
Truely though you are right those were el cheapo scissors. And the cut was horrible.
Butthead "dude you didn't cut it right"
Beavis " alright i'll just cut it again" -
"Dang... cut it twice and it's still too short."
