I am using my gateway/dsl to send this message you so please do not ask about it.
Running windows xp pro sp3. don't ask about upgrading.
This is a cf-29 mk ending in g2bw

The wireless driver is having issues connecting to the wireless part of our router ie, when I ping the gateway, the reply on the command window is "hardware error" and repeats for four times. Connecting with the physical network card is no issue.

I have reinstalled the nic driver intel 2915 aBG driver with no positive results. Rebooted pc same issue.

I have some kind of Wireless-Gnotebook adapter with SRX400 virtual box and tried to delete it. Could not be removed from device manager with message "failed to remove device" need to reboot message. Tried removing it inthe registry and registry refused to remove it.

Would this be a service controlled issue in services.msc ? I did not see it and turned on anything wireless as a service.

    Thanks for your help.

I am going to remove ipv6 protocol and see if that is causing these issues.

I removed ipv6 and it removed all these strange characters after addressees info. Still getting a hardware error when trying to ping the gateway.

I decided to change wifi routers to my adroid phone and use it as a gateway to the internet. I can ping it and yahoo.com. I had to reset the telus wifi router but now the user/password is not working.

Have you tried changing from the Intel wifi manager to the native WinXP wifi manager?

No BUT I FOUND A PARTIAL FIX!! this may sound strange, but as soon as I disabled the ethernet card in control panel, my http traffic started to poor into my brouser. Since earlier today, the wifi traffic has been consistantly strong. Not sure why my Marvel Yukon is interfering with the intel wirleess card. With both cards on, I can ping the dhcp address assigned to this laptop, but not the gateway!! pinging yahoo.com causes a hardware error message.

    Sounds like a corrupted driver.
Try the latest WIFI/WLAN driver downloaded direct from Intel.
Completely uninstall the Marvel LAN driver. Reinstall it if everything begins to work properly.

I have some kind of Wireless-Gnotebook adapter with SRX400
Sometimes I have had to reinstall drivers/software just so I could uninstall them properly.

    Do several different virus scans.

Boot with a Linux live CD and see how that works. If it works, then you have a hardware issue.
