Welcome to the Toughbook Forum on NoteBookReview.com!

Suggest starting by reading from this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/214029-official-panasonic-cf-29-toughbook-thread.html

The pull-out antenna is for WWAN wireless connection like a cell phone, won't work without the right drivers and a paid connection with a local carrier. You should have WLAN (wifi) unless the wifi card is damaged --might just need the right driver, probably Intel PROset (but only use the Intel driver, use Windows to control the wifi connection). You can find CD-ROM units on the auction site, or maybe put an ad in the Buy/Sell/Trade section after you have 15-20 posts.

Here is a link for the factory restore cd's:
Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 Recovery CD - Restore CD | eBay
These are a must for the CF-29, unless you are going to put Linux/Ubuntu/Joli OS on it. As above, reading through all of the FAQ's pages at front of forum "stickies" are well worth the reading...

Believe the factory wifi card for an E model (Mk2) was an Intel 2200. I'm not a fan of those, go with the next newer model Intel 2915. the EMP-8602+S also works great, much stronger than the Intel cards, but also several times more expensive.

8602 is definitely a good choice for max range. Do the external SMA connector hack so you can hook up a cantenna or similar directional external antenna.

It takes an Atheros driver. Look around the web, some on-line retailers also provide a link to download the right driver.

Or look at my member info and shoot me an email, maybe I can email it to you.
