Hi all...been around here a little while, but haven't needed to ask much as most questions (and answers) are here somewhere. I've got a cf-29ntqgtbm with 1.5 ram, singular edge (not using), & xp pro sp3. Just bought a cf-29 panasonic gps module off ebay and want to install it. The sled for the edge set up is in there. Can I mount the gps to it and use the edge ribbon or is there alot more to it? Is the antenna and on/off switch for the edge gonna help? Please try to keep answers and directions thorough but simple...Thanks much.

    Welcome to the forum!

I have done this a few times... The anwers are... Well... There are two.

    1. You need a new sled and possibly a GPS engine that is specifically designed to be teamed onto a WWAN sled.

    -OR-

    2. You CAN modify the sled you have for the engine you have by cutting out part of the sled to make room for the engine. You CANNOT let the GPS and the WWAN touch... Even though they both ground to the same point. For some reason I got A LOT of errors that took me forever to figure out when doing this. I ended up having to cut just a hair more out of the sled to make room for the GPS engine. But yes... It will work... But you need to be careful!

From what I remember... The GPS engine that is designed to fit on the CF-29 sled with the WWAN is a remake of the old, worthless CF-28 GPS engine.
