The option to remove your password is in the bios settings
Look you will see it under one of the tabs
When I travel ,I enable it, at home I remove to speed booting

Leave the password blank (ie. put in no password and press return).

This is how you clear the password once you have logged in to the BIOS.

Make sure you set both the supervisor and "standard" user passwords to blank.

User mode is when you are able to look at the BIOS without the rights to change any settings.

If you want to be able to change the passwords/other settings, you need to know the supervisor password.

Please post a photo of BIOS pages
    main page
    boot options page

Try and disable ALL BIOS and HD boot passwords and see if the option to change boot order returns.

Try removing the Hard drive and hard drive caddy.
Test if it will boot from the CD//DVD drive.

Do you need to enter a password to get into the BIOS?

Try resetting the BIOS to defaults.
    Disable all BIOS passwords.

in BIOS press f9 then f10 to save. That should reset to defaults.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
That password at boot sounds like a user password.
That may be why you can not change the boot order.
You must have supervisor access to change the boot order.
The reference manual will tell you how to disable that user and supervisor password.

I still think supervisor is disabled somehow in your BIOS.
It should be able to be changed. It is not a custom BIOS.

I do not use BIOS passwords. The BIOS passwords cause problems.

this will take a little time to straighten out ... differences of english and italian .
do you know a person that speaks english and can translate for you ? ... it helps if they know computers .
there are fine differences that do not translate by machine .

    @ shawn ...
when i cloned my '30 and '31 , i used one of those usb to sata devices .
this might be an easy way around the problem .
i agree though , the bios is not locked ... from what i see .

    Larry

BIOS is not "locked" in the normal sense that we usually see.
It is locked into USER mode and it needs to be in SUPERVISOR mode in order to change the boot settings.
Look at the bottom of the main BIOS page in his photo. It says USER. Mine all say SUPERVISOR.
There are 2 levels of BIOS access. USER and SUPERVISOR. I don't have a 30 to experiment with the Security settings
I am sure this can be done on the Security page. I am just not sure what all needs changed. I think there are 2 or 3 settings that all need to be changed.

User mode is when you are able to look at the BIOS without the rights to change any settings.

If you want to be able to change the passwords/other settings, you need to know the supervisor password.

Put old hard drive back in CF 30.
Can you boot from CD with old hard drive?
Post photos of BIOS Main page and BIOS Boot options page with old hard drive installed.

If you enable the USER password to get into BIOS. Press f2 to show a box on the screen. You enter the SUPERVISOR password into that same box. Then the SUPERVISOR options are shown in the BIOS.

    As I said before,
Flashing BIOS will not solve your problem.
Flashing BIOS will NOT remove any password.

Your CF30 does have a SUPERVISOR password. Without removing that password you will NEVER be able to change the boot options.
There is nothing "wrong" with your current BIOS. It is doing what it is supposed to do.
I will explain again how to enable the location where you can type in the SUPERVISOR password.

You must ENABLE "type password to get into BIOS" This is where you enter your current USER password after you hit f2 key. The SUPERVISOR password is typed into the same box that appears after you hit the f2 key. When you enter the SUPERVISOR password instead of the USER password in that box, the SUPERVISOR options WILL show on the BIOS security page.
Without knowing that SUPERVISOR password, you will NEVER get those security page options to show up. It will require a motherboard replacement.

    @ shawn ...
ok , the two level access is pretty common .
i agree ... it looks like he is locked out by the *user* mode being set .
he does need the *supervisor* mode (aka : god account) ...
i could experiment with my '30 if/when i have time (busy as 4377 at work) .
i have never set the passwords on the bios .

you don't suppose it is something simple like "1234toughbook" (for example) .
how it got set is a puzzle ... maybe a glitch or a keystroke or two that slipped by unnoticed ?

    One last thought.
Changing the hard drive to a SSD did not cause any password or SUPERVISOR problem.
This problem started in 2011 when you first posted about it.
