Hello all looking for advice, I have a cf-31 mk1 I can see a 300mb recovery partition but when I read the manual it talks about using the recovery cd. Is there any free recovery/boot disks I can use to start the recovery and access this partition without the Panasonic disk?

    Thanks

None that I know of but I don't have a 31. If it's like other Toughbooks you need the recovery DVD. Call Heartland Services and for $35.00 you can have it in your hands the next day if ordered by 10:00 AM.

    Get into the BIOS.
Last page should have an option to restore from recovery partition.

I saw that on a video, the option is not there is my bios. :( didn't want to have to buy a disk. Installed win 8.1 and its working but I thought might be better to upgrade then restore. Will likely go to win 10 maybe....

It's 30 minutes now to install clean Win10 and drivers bundle using Win7 key.

Ok I found a cf-31 recovery disk but its only 32 bit. Was there a 32 bit and 64 bit ver for the MK1? Or just 32?

    Thanks

They should also be a 64bit one two or maybe just 1 DVD with both on it like many others. On my 53 I first installed W7 then went and made a restore DVD. This was where I chose which one I wanted, 32 or 64bit. After I made the restore DVD I had to reinstall W7 to get the 64bit OS. Not sure if yours will be like that or not.

    My 31 is the same
Install 32bit then you can create a 32 bit or 64 bit disk. It does create a recovery partition also. That is accessible through the bios.

Hummm I don't have a recovery option in my bios, the 32 bit disk did create a 300mb partition...
I updated my bios to the latest version but still no recovery option

Thanks again shawn, I looked at your link and after reading threw realized I needed to find the Manual for the MK1, I did and in reading the contents included it came with a windows 7 disk 32 bit and a win xp disk, probably later versions of mk1 or maybe not until mk2 did they send it out with the 64 bit version as well.

I know there was a way to change the model version of the cf-30 in bios to use different mark recovery disks, I remember doing it but not sure if the same work around was ever done on the cf-31. But win 10 seems to be working for the cf-31 mk1 so for now I can either run in win 7 32bit or win 10 64 bit.

    Thanks everyone.

If you have W10 installed on the 31 now you have 30 days to decide if you want to keep it. After that your W7 key/COA will no longer work.

I tried W10 for 2 weeks and went back to W7 and I had to call MS to get my W7 COA activated again. They don't like you going back to W7
