i've got a cf-51 got it with no hdd, dvd,or batt.its a mk3LL.it boots to bios.i installed a samsung 160 drive and put in a multi dvd drive.oem panasonic.tried to boot from a windows xp pro disk and after the panasonic splash screen it just sits there at a blank sreen with a blinking cursor.i set the bios to boot dvd first, and dvd and hdd are recognised in bios.i tried to make a usb flash drive boot,it tried and then same blank screen with blinking cursor.do i need to set usb up with cf-51 drivers?kinda lost here.built alot of desktops but havent played with alot of laptops.p.s.the mk3 cf-51 has a fsb of 667 why does it have pc-4200 ram?thanks oh and i'm trying to boot on only ac power no battery in it at the moment.

the hard drive is unformatted,i assumed i could boot from dvd drive with wxp pro disk and format before install.i cant find a cf-51 recovery disk anywhere.i have a driver disk but it wont help without an os on drive.it has to be a driver issue,i let it sit for an hour then the setup is inspecting your hard ware poped up but has gone no further since.

Try a live cd linux disk first. I use puppy cause it's simple and works. I have had several hdd that I had to partition and format in linux before windoze would recognize them.

Try a different hdd. Any size. Maybe cable or connector is bad on hdd caddy.
If you have to, pick up a small(as in 500 mb or a gigabyte) laptop drive for test purposes. Fleabay sells small ones cheap.

Also do a complete reset to defaults on the bios. You can see if there is a bios flash upgrade.
