Hi, i have a question for you:
i have got a CF-M34 and i have installed win2000; now i have installed all its drivers but i have a little problem with hotkeys. When i unzip the installer into "c:\util2\driver\hotkey", in this directory i see these files:

    "Il volume nell'unita' c e': win2000
Numero di serie del volume: 70B5-6508

    Directory di C:\UTIL2\drivers\hotkey

    17/05/2010 14:49 <DIR> .
    17/05/2010 14:49 <DIR> ..
    28/08/2000 14:11 46 addhkey.bat
    08/07/2000 15:09 90.112 hkeyman.exe
    01/03/2001 09:12 7.847 hotkey.cat
    08/12/2000 16:06 3.129 hotkey.inf
    04/08/2000 11:31 82 hotkey.reg
    23/12/1999 16:36 16.624 HOTKEY.sys
    15/01/2001 19:00 3.971 uninst.vbs
    8 File 121.811 byte
    2 Directory 39.353.774.080 byte disponibili"

I open a ms-dos window and type addhkey.bat; this script insert into register the key "hotkey.reg", but i do not understand where install the other files.......
...... i hope that you have understand.......it is missing a valid readme file!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You might try reading the stickies......

You need to go into Device Manager and you will see a yellow question mark. Click on that, then Update Driver and point it to the folder in C:/Util2/Drivers. It should update the hoytkey driver...

I don't see any question mark on my device manager; when i try to update the keyboard drivers, tell me that isn't possible because it isn't a valid driver for this device. However i tried with other devices but without result........

The bios update is a DOS utility and it is indipendent by OS installed, so, i think, it do not resolve the question...... I remember you: what are the files unzipped into "C:\util2\drivers\hotkeys\"? Where do i install these?.... I think that this is a very important question else, i must believe that they are unnecessary!!

No, u have to use a BIOS-Version, which will support ur OS. Go on the posted link and look for ur system. The BIOS tells ur OS, where to search for what.
The DOS-utility is only for the install process of the BIOS.

Pasquale, remember, that machine was loaded with XP when you got it. You might have to roll back the bios for W2K.

Hi Jerry, i don't understand: the bios version installed on our machine is V3.01L11; the latest aviable for mk3 on canadian panasonic web site is V3.01L21; you can see the searching result for bios software and win 2000 for mk3 (CF-M34NPFZPN) at this link:

    https://panasonic.ca/english/customercare/sandd/softwareResults.asp

I think that this version is good for win2000, if you see previous versions are suggest for win98......however it is not indicate os installed......i don't know..........however on my machine hotkeys work fine but i don't understand where put the file unzipped in "c:\util2\drivers\hotkeys".....

When you download the driver files from the Panasonic website, place them all in one folder, usually on the desktop (easy to find). After downloading all of them, you can use the instructions (they come in a separate file download) that are provided along with the dirvers to tell you how to install and in what order. Most of them will unzip and go into the C:\util2 folder, but not all. You will then go to them one by one in the folder to install using the executable file in those that have it, but for some, including the hotkeys, you must install the driver manually by going to device manager and updating the driver on those devices that have the yellow exclamation point. There is a specific order you should follow, the one in the instructions will work, but others in this forum will have modifications to that order. The primary one to install first will be the Intel driver that will be in the separate folder, not in the util2 (if my memory is correct).

Pasquale, I said might need to roll back the drivers. I'll defer to Trooper here as he knows a lot more about M34s than I do. Back when I loaded that machine with XP, I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to get the OS into the machine without dual booting Win98 and XP. This forum was in its infancy then and the wealth of help and information wasn't available. Its a good reminder of what a great resource this place has become.

Pasquale, a couple of questions. What is the full model number of your 34 (if it is a MK3, then it must be a 700MHz)? If it is not on the bottom look on the first page of the BIOS. Any particular reason you are running W2K instead of XP? How much RAM are you running? Have you looked at the install instructions located on the Panasonic site where you got the drivers?

If you see in previous posts, i have a CF-M34NPFZPM, PIII 700Mhz, 256Mb RAM, 60Gb HD; i have installed win2000 because it is more lite and more fast of winxp, but also becasue i have not an italian version of winxp disk :) ......now, silver, i ask you a simple question:

How did you installed the hotkeys drivers on your CF-M34s?..........................................

    Post Scriptum

I do not see any instructions on panasonic web site and i do not see any readme file in installer.........

I do not know where you have been getting your drivers, but go to this link for the latest. They do not have any specific drivers in Italian, but you should be able to use these:

Official Support Download Center of the Drivers, Manuals and FAQs | TOUGHBOOK | Panasonic

If you scroll down on the page, you will see the listing for the install instructions. Read them over and see if they answer your questions. They tell you how to install and in what order. You really should switch to XP given the chance, it has far more support (although it will end in the near future) and runs great when you cut out the bloat ware.
