hi
i like upgrade ram in my cf-m34 mk3.
i have une slot with 256 ram on board removable... (on board ?..)
because i not undestand this in the cf-m34 faq...
MK3
CPU Intel® Mobile Pentium 3, 700 MHz
RAM 256 MB Max. PC100 ( maybe 512 max with models that have 256 on-board ram)
i have 256 removable ram...is possible remove and put 512 ram ?
" On board" is my current case ? or ever will read 256?
second question (if possible upgrade) ,,,ram 512 for upgrade, is pc133 or pc100 ?
i see this old post..ram pc133....
My M34 only has 256MB in it... not 512, and it is one stick of 256MB double chipped (8x each side) PC 133 RAM
in the manual i see ram is pc100.
question is...fit pc100 but also pc133 ? low density..
best regards alls thanks for help.

You can also read up alot on the older wiki pages. http://toughbook.wikispaces.com/cf-m34
I still have one CF-M34 Mk3. I will dig it out and see what it has in it. (looks new with a unused copy of windows 2000).
With that model they didn't have 512 mb chips when it was originally made. A 512 chip may work, certain types of ram will work, but will only register half the amount. A lot of the CF-28's had that problem also. These were all made in the same time frame as those. I wrote what the official from Panasonic numbers down on my guides. Now when I have proof that more will work I usually add it on later.
"example from old threads"
More data: My sister's been using a CF-M34-700MHz at college, and it
successfully recognizes its 256MB module. This evening she found time
to open it up and let me steal the SODIMM for a minute. We have the
same motherboard, and yes, the module works as 256MB in mine too.
Here's the data:
Sticker on module:
PC100-222-620
MH32S64APFB-7
(Mitsubishi logo) JAPAN 1451501
Chips, eight on front and eight on back:
M2V28S30
AVP -7L
14112A0D
(Mitsubishi logo) JAPAN
Eight-pin SPD EEPROM:
88AG
(fairchild logo) 32L
So here's the big question: All the configurators I find (Kingston,
Viking, Crucial) assume that there's memory already soldered onto the
motherboard, which is not the case here. So when they say my max is
512MB and the biggest module I can take is 256MB, which is right? If I
throw a 512MB SODIMM in here, will it detect?
Furthermore, what are the exact specs I should be looking for? All the
modules that work have SPD EEPROMs on them, but so does one of the
modules that doesn't work. I'm tempted to just walk into MicroCenter
and say "I'll buy the biggest module you can get this thing to detect".
Thoughts?
wo more data points: I ordered some memory from OEMPCworld.com, a
256MB module and a 512MB module. Both of them detect as 256MB. Here are
the specs:
Sticker on 256MB module (oempcworld part number 256M-SO10016C)
PC100 256MB SDRAM 16MX8 SPD
U17256AHUIB6A20
(barcode) *0503419*46
Memory chips, eight on front, eight on back:
USI 16M864-PH200
0552
The SPD EEPROM is covered by a sticker.
The oempcworld sticker on the 512MB module covers up all the data, but
it's their part number 512M-SO100 and has sixteen Infineon chips,
labeled HYB39S256800DC-(obscured).
So here's the question: Why does the new 256MB module work at its full
capacity, but the new 512MB module detect as 256MB, the Panasonic 256MB
module only work at 128MB, and none of the others detect at all?
"end of copied thread log"
And in looking I noticed the toughbookdrivers.com site is back up now. -
look at my photos. I have a removable module 256. this is ok for upgrade ok ?
I understand that if I purchase a PC100 module 512 AND PUT IN PLACE OF 256 ...
there is nothing definitive .. it's all a bet .. but it is just to find the right ram for the demanding cf-m34?
i see this..in italy...possible fit i see fit pc133 and also pc 100 ?

I blew the dust off of my CF-M34 Mk3 with windows 2000 for a side project. It has 256 mb of ram in it, I am going to borrow a 512 stick of ram sometime today from one of my CF-28's to see if it will work. -
