    I took apart the laptop, and put the screws together. However, I was forced to move the project downstairs. Now I no longer am sure which screws are for what. This laptop is so intricate to repair, I'm thinking about giving up and buying another one. Does anybody have any advice on determining exactly which screw goes where? I do have the service manual, but it doesn't appear they give a description of each screw, but maybe I haven't checked thoroughly enough.

    If you look at the exploded drawings, I think you will see they do a pretty good job of showing where the long screws go and where the short ones go.
    Also each letter code (e.g. D, E, F, etc) represents a common part. In other words, all "D" screws are of the same type and length. So, once you figure out one of the screws of type "D", you will know the right screw for all those locations.

    Of course, all black screws go inside and the silver ones are on the outside. (If there's an exception to that, someone will point if out, I am sure.)

    With a little time, I bet you can get it back together OK.
    Good luck,
    Dave

    I saw the letter codes in the manual. However, there are many screws of similar length. It would be nice if there was a way to identify the screws: e.g.

    D=1.3mm
