My cf-y7 was stepped on, and the top badly dented.
Everything works. I reviewed an old thread poosted here in early 2008 where this was resolved with someone (Techlogik) using a Japanese Industrial Standard screwdriver...removing the lid and knocking out the dent, but I didn't find enough information to make me comfortable!

I would like to try the same procedure, but would like to know
...exachtly which size screwdriver to use
...exactly where the screws are located (I only see two..and I can't believe there aren't more) that I have to remove.
...whether I will need to do anything other than removing and replacing screws (and pushing out the dent).
...I would also like to know if I am asking for trouble doing this on my own (I have ZERO PROVEN computer hardware maintenance skills).

This novice says thanks in advance for the help.

Well, one thing you have to be careful about is the LCD panel. If you pinch it when putting the top/back back on, you can easily crack it.

The screws are easy to see and remove. The harder part is disengaging the plastic clips. It would be a pretty good idea to get a service manuel before starting. There are people on the forum who can help you with that, I think.

By the way, my wife did this to her system, and just kept using it the way it was without any problem.

Thanks --the manual is $250, which didn't seem to make sense for this problem. If I can't get the answer in this Forum...I will bring it in to my neighborhood computer store!!

Try a suction cup to pull out the dent just like they use in body shops.
