My CF18 does not like having my Huwaei e169 usb 3g stick plugged in at the same time as my Sandisk 8 GB memory stick - if I insert the memory stick after connecting the 3g modem and setting up a net connection, a few times the system has reported that the sandisk memory stick cannot be initialised, but most of the time it causes the 3g modem to drop it's bundle and go into a strange state where the Huwaei software knows it's there, but it's like the USB modem is being 'quarantined' and not accessible.

The U3 software on the Sandisk memory stick runs fine if the OS can initialise it (not sure if that's from a hardware or software level) and I can access all of my files, but with the net connection dropping out due to some sort of incompatibility between the USB 3g modem and the USB memory stick, I am wondering what's going on here.

I'm away on a ballast train for 9 days but back in Adelaide I have a spare PCMCIA USB 2.0 card, and if I use that to plug in things other than the USB 3G modem, the OS could be happy as larry. Will know once I get back in a week and try that idea out.

BTW this is with the fresh, new installation of Xp Pro on the new 160 gb disk. Didn't try the two devices together when the system was running off the old disk that has Xp tablet edition on it.

    Craig.

There might be a lack of current on the usb ports
    To resolve
Use the pcmcia usb adapter for a least one device
Or buy a powered usb hub ,that has a wall power supply and run from that

You also may not have the correct drivers for the USB controllers - some USB2 controllers need the OEM drivers for correct support for things like speed detection, wake on activity, and over-current protection...

Time to rebuild that USB Driver stack!

deactivate the HUAWEI Mass Storage USB Device in the Devicemanager. It solves the problem on my CF-18.
