I've got RightMark Utility installed on my cf-29, and I very often get "CPU Overheat detected," especially when on the web. Is this something I should worry about? Assuming it is, what should I try to cool things down? Thanks
-
It depends... What is the alarm temp you have it set for?
I worried about this too... Many years ago. If you search for "CPU Temps" and variations... You will find several threads on the issue. -
TB: I'm not sure--I just installed the rightmark software, and the warning started showing up late in the day. I'll check the threads you mention--thanks.

Stew....
Here you go...

Same question that I had... Except on the CF-30. But th thread covers them all pretty much... With "chime-ins" from the Panasonic Techs too. -
TB,
I just downloaded Everest free edition, and the temp readings I'm getting say:
CPU: 72 C / 162 F
Drive: 35 C / 95
Can the CPU temp be right? I feel like Slim Pickins in Dr. Strangelove when he keeps looking at the Transponder for Wing Attack Plan R and can't believe what he's seeing . . . -
That seems a little hot to me. It almost sounds like someone took the bottom plate off and didn't get the CPU cooling pad lined up... Or add silver paste... Or all or part of it is missing.
I'd open it up and check. The pads sell at Heartland for like .50 cents... But then they kill you on shipping. Maybe someone else has some or knows a local place to pick them up. -
Well, someone very close to me put a new wi-fi card in .....I'll check w/ Heartland, unless someone knows a local joint here in Portland (OR) where I could pick it up.

I maybe able to carefully take one of those pads off my paperweight units if you don't mind it being used. I would figure that it wouldn't matter much as long as the piece still holds together.
-
I would think as long as it fits... Go with it.

I just googled the heat sink # Tomcat provided, and got a listing at PartStore.com. Has anyone purchased Panasonic parts from them?
-
thats where i just ordered mine (sat) cant say how they are to buy from tho , since i just ordered it. Ill let you know when i get mine. should be tues
steve -
Its a stove parts that you are getting from PartStore.com. Lol, anyway I hope you get the right mat'ls.
ohlip -
Well... I wish you luck... But I think you'll get an apologetic email in your inbox in a week or two.
I tried ordering parts a few years back and that's what happened to me. I think they have a tie-in with Panasonic and will let you order it... Then it goes through to order fulfillment and they realize they don't have the part.
Please let us know what happens. -
