    Hi Forum,
in the german cf-29 user manual are some cryptical words about the external antenna connector. Like "the external antenna connector is for future application" and "the 2,4ghz antenna should not go over 6 dbi and must be installed by an expert". Can someone explain what this means cause my plan is to put a wifi antenna on the back of the toughbook and i will do it by myself.

It means they don't want you changing or adding anything on your own.
They want you to send or take it back to them so they can charge you an obscene amount of money, to do what you can probably do yourself.

    Hi Bob, good answer :)
It sounds like there is no risk for damage the boards of the toughbook when i put an external antenna on the connector.

    Thanks

Probably not. As far as I can tell...

if your unit has WiFi and NO WWAN, the antenna connector is WiFi with a jumper to the secondary antenna. If you have WWAN, then it's connected to the WWAN only, and the WiFI antennas are connected directly to the WiFi card.

This external thing has me scratching my head

I have a verizon card, CF-30 docked in my Gamber/johnson Mag Dock. On my dock I ordered 1 external pass thru. I have an external on the top of my van. I wanted to make sure that it was turned on to pass thru in the Bios so I called Panny and he had me go thru my Bios with him. He verified that it was on pass thru. Here is what I don't understand, When I am docked, and raise my TB antenna the signal gets better????? He told me that antenna is dead when it's docked now. I just dont understand what's going on??
