My dad got a cochlear implant so the old trick of running the phone through a 40watt PA amp and into a set of headphones  doesn't work anymore.

So I plugged the phone cord into my modem, plugged the speakers/mic into the back of the 31, made a call, and I got audio but the other party couldn't hear me.

It looks, from the on-screen directives, like dialer.exe is requiring me to pick up the nearest handset to complete the adventure. Can anyone confirm this? Is there (simple) alternative software that will allow phone calls over the built in modem using a speakers/mic setup? Not looking for a telemarketing solution, though I have found one that should work. Mostly all I get from searching is "what do you MEAN you don't want voip?" I don't. Trust me.
