i just picked up CF-29l4lgxbm off of fleabay.it's seem to be in decent shape, but i cant get the drivers to update..specifically the chipset and hotkeys(fn key won't work!).what am i doing wrong here?i follwed the install instructions, and still no luck.i'm starting to think the recovery cd's i got from another guy of ebay is screwing up something.

i download the drivers,go to run and execute the exe file,it does it's thing, then says i need to restart.i restart it and still nothing...even says that the driver is running off the orignal one in the device manager.

i normaly don't post because i find all the answers by searching and reading, but this time i have tried everything that i can find, and still no luck.

btw this is my second toughbook...still have my first/cf28(which wasn t near as hard to install drivers on)

Have you checked Device Manager to see if everything is installed or for problems/unknown drivers. It sounds like you do not have the hot key driver installed.

yes,no conflicts or unknown devices show up. i have mannualy installed that driver atleast 4-5 times.is there a certain procedere to installing the driver? i know you downlaod it,the go in under device manager and click update driver, then select it manualy...but that doesn't seem to do anything.

That's one thing I have never had a problem with before. I am not at home at the moment to look at my 29 but my guess someone else will reply to your post and give you a hand later on.

Something is wrong here as the recovery cd's contain an image of the hard drive and restore your cf-29 mk-4 to factory

No drivers need to be installed ,as they are all installed when you restore using the disks

I have the disks handy , here is the part # for disk 1
    DFQX3894MA1 MK-4-XP2M-TSW
Is that the same as your disk?

If you tried when you first reloaded using the restore disks ,then a bad connection on the keyboard cables or a bad keyboard is most likely

As I said these work right away after the restore

If you downloaded drivers from the panasonic download site and ran them after you restored , you most likely reinstalled some and fouled the software up , and you must start oiver fresh

Usualy the only drivers that need updating is the network cards when restoring , and windows service pack ,and windows update

The screen brightness should work even if the hotkey drv is not loaded it is one of the only functions that works without the driver. So if there is no response by hitting Fn+F1/F2 then it is most likely your keyboard or connection of the function ribbon cable.
