    Hello gents,

Can anyone recommend a dvd-rw/cd-rw drive for a cf30? I was under the impression that the matshita ujda 760 would burn dvds, but it only reads them. Thanks for the help.

I have a Sony that works fine..Verified that it boots also..Not all of any model or brand will boot.
I just checked in my CF52...
I'll send you a Private message.

The OEM model # that burns CD and DVDs is CF-VDM302AU. Mine shows up in the hardware profile as Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-841S

    I am shipping one tomorrow...

I said this in a private message but it's worth repeating here.

Just because A toughbook comes with XYZ model optical drive, does not mean that you can buy the same model from ebay and it will work.
XYZ drives in Toughbooks are usually set to Master....Many other laptop companies use Cable Select.
A Toughbook "may" recognize the drive in windoze, but I guarantee you it won't boot from it.
At 1am the night before the big project is due, when you must restore your CF52 using the DVD's, this is a problem....I know from experience...
