I'm a newby here and to Toughbooks. Just a newby to computers really. I just purchased a refurb. CF-28 that has a DVD rom and would like to install a cdrw or a cdrw/dvd rom. Is this a difficult install? Can I just remove the dvd rom and install the cdrw and things work or is there more to it? Is there any instruction online that will help with the swap. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Mark

Well, most you can't just swap, that is true, but I do have one of the few for sale in the 4-Sale section of this forum that can just be swapped... :D

I also swapped a Panasonic made DVD-RAM into mine with no mod. The mod is easy and well described here, you just have to bridge a pad.

    Welcome!

Yes, that is usually the case ,the mod is necessary with most standard cd/dvd drives
But it is wise to try it first before modifying

H! If you are going to use the panasonic UJDA 750 Dvd/Cd-rw combo, no need to mod the caddy just swap it out and your set.
