so I was perusing eBay and I saw a CF-28 GPS system and was wondering what kind it is if it’s the after market or original

if I’m honest I am no expert on GPS stuff. I’m more into radios and CB stuff

Yea, its an original board. (I have a few 28s) No Idea how good they are or how much better the current SiRF GLONAS and others are either... I have a really nice, 12 GPS Antenna array bla bla bla in my 31 here, BUT, My Garmin gets me there and back while this stays in the home office.
On another note, you mentioned Radios, Does this antenna look familiar to you? Its about 2"x6" and the loop is about 13" long.

OK, hope this works better LOL
I acquired a handful of these guys and believe they came from the city/county here when they were upgrading their radio system to a more widely usable new system. They could also be from the Cellular/Wifi systems they use as they upgraded them also. At a buck a pound, I couldn't say NO...Attached Files:

Mike,
As my dad used to say...
That looks like a ginpin. It goes crossways in the kunugenbox. It helps the unit to onostrigate.

Well, as long as the onostrigatetioning helps it improve the signal, I'd be fine with that!!
They are called a 'Folded Dipole Antenna array'. (Found a pic of one) and they make them for HF to Micro, but with each end of the dipole about 6" (Just over 12" total) thats about a 450-500MHz range. Which would work with my Moto UHF base station.Shawn likes this. -
Hehe the other day I got a amazing deal on a CF-28 MK3 for $15 untested and it had the exact GPS installed. Now the FCC ID on it showed some pretty buck-wild stuff that I’m not going to say because privacy. And it was mine then I sold it to my uncle who then drop shipped to some other guy who drop shipped to another guy who somehow lost the aC adapter then drop shipped to me where I found out it was mine from like 15 years and was used for like 14 years

lol.... I remember building my own GPS system for the CF-28 and had a company in Texas that used to build GPS antennas specifically for my use. However... The "clean way" to do this was to use and original GPS daughterboard that connected below the battery using a few screws and ribbob cables.
Those daughterboards were scarce at the time (and I imagine still are)... I went on a buying spree and bought all I could. I think I bought 10-12 of them ranging from $35-$55. (This was back in 2007 & 2008)Wyoming88! likes this. -
The daughterboard is pretty scarce for me but I go to sketchy websites to see if they have them lol
