I bet there is a way to dissable the bad memory, since you have no use for the motherboard maybe you want to try a bit of soldering to dissable the onboard ram?

You can always make more parting it out... But takes time and buyers who want that exact part. If you want to sell it.. .Please PM me with your asking price. (Unless it is one of the Aussie models that is all beat up.)

    Wow

For most of us it’s hard enough just to do a motherboard swap, without screwing something up lol

And there is a difference between digitizer and touchscreen models as well as a difference on the mk series

It might be the safest choice to sell as parts, to someone that has the knowledge to repair

I thought there was really nothing to screw up if the motherboard was just going to be thrown out anyway.

And I don't think it would be too hard to dissable onboard ram.
I would guess that it would involve cutting tracks on the motherboard.

It doesn't have a huge likelyhood of working, but it could be worth a try.

It's would be sort of like taping pins on a bad stick of ram in order to allow a machine to boot with bad ram (reason for this would be to flash the SPD in order to fix the ram).

Anyway, it could be a fun project but would probably be a waste of time.

OP, fell free to ignore my suggestion.

Oh! well, I have a working mbo. but it is for touchscreen model. Totally stripped off as a source of spare parts from my other unit and also the one i've taken out the LCD panel and installed to cf-19.

I remember in the last year a least 5 posts from members that were doing small repairs and have really messed up
    Examples
Having to repair a small clip that they damaged on the motherboard after doing a simple keyboard swap
Blowing a fuse on the motherboard after swapping the screen because they had left the battery in place and it caused a power surge when the display was plugged in
And the most recent where they cracked the touchsceen panel after disassembling it to clean it

Yeah... I've been in ALL those situations over the past 4 years! HA!

But like he said... If you're going to throw it away anyway.... Actually... NEVER throw away a mobo... You never know what parts you may have to harvest in the future!

    that is the best advice.

I constantly find reasons to go to my garage and pull some things off old motherboards.

Also they are good to practise doing stuff on. Definatly worth keeping :)

Thank for reminding me of one more ;)
Installing a gps in a wwan sled on a cf-29 and blowing a fuse

And I will include myself as well
Changing a hard drive connector on a motherboard and forgetting which way the clip on the motherboard holds the flat cable
Some lever down and some slide in and out, well I forgot and I broke the clip and ended up with a parts unit
