Hey guys, new noob here. I am a Marine Mechanic and use my cf-18 every day. Just bought a cf-29 MK-4 as a backup and have a question. My 29 came with a floppy, and I need it for certain things. I have been loading software with a external cd drive same as my cf-18. I noticed that the media tray is easily removeable and was wondering if i bought a cd drive with a caddy will it interchage without a problem. I have learned alot here. So far I have updated my hard drive and maxed my ram and am begining to love this platform. I searched here and saw the thread from cd to dvd, but must have missed the floppy to cd thread.
Thanks all, Mike

you can use cd/dvd drives with caddies interchangable in the MP port, the one that the floppy drive came out of, do a google search on them, can buy off ebay or when get your posts up to 20 can go to the buy sell trade forum here and see who wants to deal. I think most of the moderators and a lot of other regulars might would sell one if they had them also on how to upgrade earlier models of these. welcome to the forum and read the stickies and FAQ's at the beginning of the forum, packed with info. I'm sure others will soon welcome you......Driller

I hear you on the stickies and the faq. Went thru them all. So if I bought a caddy with a cd rom it will plug and play with no problems? I need to keep the floppy drive as I still need it with our outdated systems. I want to change from a floppy, to a cd drive, to a media bay battery as needed. I will change the cd to a dvd drive per Toughbooks very good how to. Thanks, Mike
