I googled and found some unsavory reviews (but no one shares good experiences) but there were only in reference to imacs. Both sales and purchases.

Some folks said they sent in a computer to sell back just to have them claim damage and state they would give $0 and wanted to charge money for return shipping, only to receive something different than they originally shipped.

Others talked about receiving apple laptops that were damaged or not working properly an not beng able to receive refunds.

Currently, i am looking at the OEM Panasonic CF-31 AC charger for $14!
    https://www.gainsaver.com/used-toughbook-ac-adapter-for-cf-31-53-oem-cf-aa5713am-oem

I have a CF-29 for sale in the buy sell trade forum. If I do not get bites soon I was planning on selling to gainsaver.com. If I do, i'll make sure to record all S/N's and probable mark the caddys & RAM in case I have to request it back.

TLDR: Have you ever bought or sold anything from/to gainsaver.com, and if so, what was it and how was your experience?

and the list goes on .
    google : "gainsaver scam" .
never dealt with them directly and after reading the reviews , i wouldn't waste my time and money .

you would do much better to get a charger off of cheesebay , at least you have the backing of ebay and PP if your dealings with the seller goes *pear shaped* .
as for selling your '29 ... same thing ... put it up on ebay .

    oh yeah ...
get an adapter/power supply that runs off of 120VAC and 12VDC .

Are there any 90-120w versions? From what I have read and been told from LIND, the 31's came with a 120w (7.2A) supply. I have a 4.5A now from my CF-29 and when the computer is on & charging a battery, the thing gets HOT, and I wish to avoid that by getting a power supply with higher VDC amperage output.

Do all thinkpad chargers work or just that specific part number that you referenced?

two things to watch for :
    16VDC output
    correctly sized connector .
IBM and thinkpad and panasonic chargers will work as long as the above is adhered to .
i have not noticed the 12/120 volt supply running hot on my '30 or '31 even while they were running .
the thinkpad/IBM charger is rated for 4.5 ampere output .
one reason for the 4.5A rating is that the input power required might exceed the current capabilities of the supply circuit if a higher current output were available .
the input on these is around 8A ... to ramp up to 7.2A/120W output would put it around 15A input .

i have used the dual input supplies for quite some time ... they will charge the '30 and '31 (albeit slower) if the machines are running .

I was aware of the size of connector and voltage requirements. I found some 90w thinkpad chargers but theyre 20v and that is a no go. I do not like how hot the 4.5A charger gets. It has an input of 0.5-1.0A @ 120VAC. The 29 charger I have workds for now, so I may just buy the cheap LIND and try my luck with the gainsaver charger and put it on charge card for fraud protection. Most of the chinese chargers I find are only 4.5A.

The whole reason I'm doing this is for the higher amperage. I even have a LIND DC charger already that puts out 4.5A.

You may as well forget it. They are only going to pay you wholesale price for the 29 and you really don't want to know what that is.

Their website lists $104 for excellent condition and $94 for good condition and they pay the shipping. e-bay prices i've found are around $125-$150 and i'd more than likely have to foot shipping bill (selling with "free" shipping seems to move product a lot faster)

Regardless, because of the bad reviews I will not be sending them my laptop. e-bay will be my next shot at selling the 29 if it doesnt sell here.

I have sold to them in the past, the sale went thru paypal so I was covered there. I was paid up front or no sale.

104 bucks in top condition versus $125-150 .
sounds like the second deal is actually better .
heh ... the "free shipping" is factored into the selling price .
where one really comes out ahead on this arrangement is when the costs for shipping a butt-load (yes , it is a real measurement of rocket fuel requirement) are amortized or defrayed over a wide range of items when bulk shipping overseas items (say from china) .

    higher watt output types ...
i have not specifically looked for a higher output device .
they most likely are available .
a little recon on ebay is in order .

LoL, yea, I'm aware the "free shipping" is built intothe price, that is why when i am comparing prices you have to compare the shipped price. It even makes buge differences with retailers, some places have a flat rate shipping charge for all orders under a certain amount, so you could end up paying $7 shipping for a port cover or some screws!

From what my research has turned up, the actual OEM chargers with CF-31s are 7.05A AC. Can someone concur or dispute?

    Thnx. Replied. :D
    Hope it's not another $400 item that includes a free CF-31 :p

yeah ... one size of the factory ac adapters are 7 ampere .

i am currently (pun/segue intended) looking at a couple of 'C2s on sneezebay ...
there is a decided difference in the shipping methods between two outfits .
one outfit wants more money (including shipping) for a non-functioning BTS unit , sans corners and caddy/hdd than another guy wants for a working unit that is in good shape with caddy/hdd , shipping included !
