I did a bit of testing of garuda Linux, arch. Everything works out of the box except back light adjustment. I install gbacklight from aur and I can manually adjust. This seems a common issue with many Panasonic models. On the cfc2 no back light also. There are 2 back light listed Intel and Panasonic which causes issues.
Dual booting is a bit of a pain using efi. I have it working and if someone needs assistance on that I can post my fix. So far Garuda is the best linux in my option for power users. I use the barebones edition and build from that using all gui to install any programs and auto setup of wine and steam etc. The garuda gamer options is very nice if you are into playing games

I wanted sthg slimmer than my SZx ... as the QVx are still very expensive I first tried a cheap (174Euros) Chuwi Herobook Air, compact and light but the HD Screen is not "crisp" enough for me ... so I got a vaio S11 on zenmarket ... i5 7200u 8/128, 29800jpy ... nice machine with a lot of ports ... screen not as bright as the screen on my SZx though but still good enough ... did a dualboot with antixlinux (only a "funny" issue with the touchpad buttons that I kind of fixed : https://www.antixforum.com/forums/t...button-right-click-right-button-middle-click/ ) ... hopefully I ll settle on it for now ;)

Nice buy. i am not to familiar with the Sony brands. For that price it was a good deal you got. I worked on a few and they are well built like panasonic. I bought a couple of the cf-rz5 and a few of cf-s10 to sell to friends. I am impressed with the rz5. For a wimpy cpu it really performs well. The battery last 2h when playing games on rz5. Nice machine but still not as good as my cf-c2. I would like to have this model forever if i could updated it to gen 12 intel lol.
I been using KDE on most linux and it has a mapper for the touchpad. I find anitx to be a difficult but very lite linux. I even had it running on my pentium 2-266 laptop, barely though...

Yeah the Vaio S11 seems to be well built. Very strong body but the screen is kind of very flexible (but still looks strong). Sound is better than on my SZx (more bass) but still not very loud. Backlit keyboard is a plus also ...
