I would think that you could try the registry patches for W7.... I would think they would work.

What GPS program works best depends on what you plan on using it for? Off-roading, topogrphical, street nav????

If you can get into control panel ,you need to disable under mouse propertiies the microsoft serial ballpoint mouse
Windows thinks that the GPS is another mouse

Sgttoughbook- I had the same problem after installing Windows 7 on my CF-29, and here is roughly what I did to fix it:

    - Disable GPS in BIOS
    - Enable administrator account (run command prompt as administrator, and type "net user administrator /active:yes" without the quotes
    - Logout and log back in as administrator
    - Download and extract the GPS drivers for your model
    - Open regedit, and go to the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ACPI\PNP0501
    - Right click this key, and change the permissions to take ownership.
    - Go to the GPS drivers you extracted, and click on "skipenum.reg". This will add the necessary key to the registry. (This was in util2/gps folder)
    - Restart, re-enable GPS in BIOS.

This is basically what I did last week, and hopefully I didn't miss anything. My GPS is working again! :p

Windows 7 wont allow you to add "skipenum" to the registry unless you take ownership of that key. If you need more details, let me know... I have notes that I took after several frustrating attempts at fixing my GPS in Windows 7.

    FWIW-

I also had to change the "Agere Systems AC'97 Modem" to COM10, since the GPS was trying to use COM3. This was an issue in Windows XP and 7.

Yep, I had a lot pf problems with Win7 and my GPS install of last week, and it was all the fault of Win7. The GPS works perfectly, Win7 just wants to interpret it as as another mouse. I finally had to manually define my ports, just like we did it in the "old days."
