I have 2 CF-28's that I want to swap the HDD's from one to the other. I had to upgrade some software and it will not run on w2k. I have xp running on the 600 mh and want to move it to the 800mh.
Is it really as simple as moving the HHD/Caddy assembly from one machine to the other? Or is something else going to bite me lower posterior?

    CF-28PTJGZQM 800MH 512MB RAM 28GB HDD Touch W2K
    CF-28MCFGZDM 600MH 256MB RAM 20GB HDD Touch XP

I hope this is not close that piracy issue. I own both OS's. They are just on the wrong machine and really don't want to do this the hard way.
BTW- I purchased the slower one because it had a cd/r and the inverter went out on the 800 (fixed since then). The 600 was sold (cheap)as if it did not have touchscreen. After using it for 2 years without touch and reading this forum for 2 days, the touchscreen works fine. It had the wrong driver for xp.

    Thanks
    JR

    Its not the proper way
It will work, and find new hardware and then you will have to update the drivers, especialy the intel chipset ,the hardware is not different enough to blue screen
The caddy heights are a bit differerent as well ,but it will work

I gave up on finding an easy way to do it. So I installed XP Home on the faster machine. As of now I have loaded the touch screen drivers to make it work. Thanks to a search of this forum.
The next issue I want to address is the lack of stanby and hibernate. From reading this forum, it is caused by the video driver. However, some have had issues installing the new video driver without installing a chipset driver.
I assume everyone who has loaded XP on a CF-28 mk2 are using the drivers for the mk3. Looking on the Panasonic website, there are two different chipset and video drivers. I need to know which one is working for most.
    Thanks for any help.

    Thanks Alex
The only XP drivers I could find on the US site were for a mk3. I looked on the Canadian ftp site until my head hurt. I failed to look at the other Canadian site listed on must read sticky. My bad!

You also need to look over to the left HERE once you log in... It has the older models on a FTP site. Of course a few of us old timers also have them.

Sing out for what you need.
