Eliminate built-in lcd's and try booting to an external monitor
Remove extra ram, optical drive or fdd's

Try an external monitor. Pressing F2 when booting should get the BIOS display.

D'oh! Tomcat beat me to it.

You need to press ctrl+F3 to switch to external monitor. Don't just madly click, give it a second to work.

Could be a bad video card, but I think it's soldered to the motherboard so you're probably looking at a new motherboard in that case unless you have access to and know how to use soldering equipment. :(

    This really could be anything....

I'd say give it a shot at removing everything.... mini-pci cards, memory, battery, fdd, harddrive, EVERYTHING you can.... and see what happens then.

Also, verify the power adapter is giving correct power.

If those steps don't do anything, then get a little more drastic in what you take out... the CF-28's have a hidden PCMCIA slot, I don't know about CF-29, I'm sure someone else will comment on wether they do, but if they don, pull out that card too... it's a little hard to get to, and some explanation would help you not break things, so if you want to try that, then let us know and I/or someone else will point you to the right place to find out how to do that.

    Good Luck.
    Knight.
