    I have a cf-19(CHB06BE)

i have upgraded my HDD before to a WD scorpio blue 500GB drive.

can anyone confirm for me if I have SATA or SATA2? im looking at getting an SSD drive. Either an OCZ solid 3 or for £5 less (for some reason) an OCZ Agility 3. The agility has slightly better specs but is listed as SATA3. The solid 3 is SATA2.

    as far as i know it goes SATA = 160Gb/s, SATA2 = 300Gb/s, SATA3 = 300Gb/s

so if i have SATA and use a agility 3 SATA3 drive, firstly will it work? and secondly will my data transfer speed be limited to 160Gb/s?

If i go for the solid 3 which is SATA2, same questions as above.

i already have the SSD sticky so i just need the drive to go with it.

    Thanks!!

    Sata-1 on that model
So your throughput will be limited
I used sata2 in my cf-19 mk-1 and it worked fine, they are compatable and I am sure the 3 standard is backward compatible

So the performance of the SSD will still be as rated but I wot get for example 500Gb/s data transfer I'll get 160Gb/s?

But this will still be shed loads better than the HDD

Actually I guess it would be slightly better but still limited. Would it be worth it??

I have had ssd's in all my cf-19's and cf-30's even with the reduced sata1 limitation it's 2 1/2 x faster than a hard drive
The boot time and crisp performance makes it worthwhile in my opinion
Overkill to buy the sata3 though, stick to a sata2 type

Excellent. If I ever upgrade the laptop it's probably be sata2 or 3 so will unlock more potential anyway. Cheers

In my 2 CF-52's and my CF-30 I am now running Intel's newest drives...320 series 120GB and boot times is 23-27 seconds and everything is so much faster opening and closing programs (4GB memory) I got them on fleabay for $130-$140 shipped

Yes I have a cf-19 mk11 and want to convert to an SSD drive of 128gb
I know its a SATA, is it 2.5" and is there anything special I should be looking at when I buy one?
would this one work "Kingston 128GB SSDNow V-Series SATA2 2.5"
its in this link from fleabay:
KINGSTON 128GB SSD V- SATA II DRV with NB kit | eBay

    Thanks in advance

    @kingnuggie
It will work as will most current ssd drives, the package contains unneeded items like the 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 drive adapter
If you don't need the extra space you can save a bit by buying the smaller capacity drives, several of my ssd's are 80GB Intel's format [email protected] gb and large enough for me

I was going to get that one but after reading the reviews I went with the Intel X25 and the series 320. I have 1 80GB and 2 120GB. Before you jump into a ssd you need to do some reading and join the link in my sig. :D
