I currently have 512 MB ram and one open slot, can I add a full GB into that slot?

Its a simple answer because the most you can have total in the CF-29 is 1.5GB, unless its one of the oldest MK1s which had 256mb built in meaning you max at 1.25GB, the largest chip you can add is 1GB either way

Actually, it is not just the older models, I have a CF-29N Mark 5 and it only came from Panasonic with 256 RAM on the system board.

    Hey...

This reminds me... I wish there was 2 rams slots and NO on board ram. Then we could jam (2) 1 gig sticks in.

No.... you want the onboard RAM as backup... Think about it... Most laptops will not even crank up with no RAM.... Panny wants to make sure it works EVERY time. I can count the reports of bad onboard RAM reported here on one hand over the past 3 years....

Remember.... It's built for durability and reliability.... Not speed.... It has the lowest failure rate of ANY laptop!
