Tryed installing the run the fax send though start > programs > assesories > communications > fax send. It is hanging and having issues. Fax though modem does not show up in print options of the pdf i am tring to send. So, what else can I download so I can fax though my modem? like it to be free, and a small fax application.

OK<
I have tried to use the landline modem as well as a cellular modem (Sierra 80whatever pcmcia) with several different programs with little to no success (or extreme aggravation)
I use an email/fax service called faxpipe and it's awesome. You scan it and email it to the fax address they give you,and it goes through in a few minutes.
Also, they give you your own fax number.
I think it's $60/year for 25 faxes/month, and then .05 each additional page or something like that. They have larger plans, too.

In my Mk3 CF-29 (one of the SBC models) it shows up as “Agere Systems AC`87 Modem” -
Your XP should show 'Agere Systems AC'97 Modem'. On your XP CD/Image you should have 'Fax Service', that is not installed by default. Install it from 'Add Windows Components'. You can send and receive fax messages on XP. Please note that Fax group two can only send, group 3 can send and receive. Issues in XP SP2 require a software update, download the latest AC'97 driver to be safe. You also need to correct cable and adapter. If you travel a lot cross border the adapter issues become a horror. You will end up carrying more adapters than laptop by volume.
how to fax though my cf-29 modem?
