I used to be able to play DVDs on my 300MHz CF-27, I used a free version of PowerDVD 5 (that came with a DVD Drive) as the later versions need too much CPU power.

350MHz and 64 MB of RAM was the listed minimum, even on Power DVD 5. Given that your CPU is below spec and you don't have a lot of extra available RAM to make up the difference, I'm not sure that it is going to work. :(

Does it even try to play? It could be a region problem, if you bought the unit in another country then you need to change the region to your country. But you only get to change the region on most DVD players 5 times before they are permanently locked to the last region set. DVD's should play on your 27 but the quality may be horrible.

With those specs it’s a real problem to decode properly
The video hardware is to up to the task ,so software is required to do the work
The processor is not capable enough to display properly
Even if it did run ,the video would be choppy

You can get a PCMCIA hardware MPEG decoder and with the included software your CF-27 should play DVD's just fine. The hardware decoder handles all the processing so your Cf-27's cpu doesn't have to do anything. One that comes to mind is the MARGI DVD2GO. They don't make them anymore but should be available on Ebay or other sites for $10-20 dollars. :)

Just found this! can't beat the price $4.00 free ship
