Sounds like something sticky got on the keyboard and trackpad. If the auction wasn't as-is, and they didn't mention it in the auction, I'd ask the seller for a new one.
Short of that, I'd rip the keyboard off and run some 91% alcohol through it (The rubbing kind, not the good drinkin' stuff!). I'd soak it a few times then let it dry.
The joy of alcohol is it will dissolve into the air faster than water, so you can try it out sooner. However make sure it's not still wet before turning it on. -
will that cause such erratic things to happen? sometim|e the curser jumps while typing? compter works well a.;kbd was good buy other wise. I'll keep and fikeyx it this is limited to keyboard/tp
-
If there is something lodged in the trackpad edges (Again, possibly a foreign sticky substance like Pepsi or beer), it may cause jumping.
Pull the battery out, and disconnect the power, and using a q-tip with alky, clean the edges of the trackpad the best you can.
Keep in mind, this is all just a possibility.. it could have worse damage, but it doesn't sound like software problems. -
there is something around tp and under the edge of the speaker cover
-
Try cleaning it off and seeing if it fixes the problem. If it gets better, you'll know something was spilled on it.
-
if you have a usb or PS/2 keyboard, you might want to plug it in in the back until you get the kinks worked out.
I'd try distilled water a few times ( with the keyboard of the computer of course) then a final rinse with the alcohol to speed the dry out time. (Hmmm, drying out with alcohol - what a concept)

Follow-up. I have removed the keyboard and used compressed air (the kind from a can) on it, and cleaned around the edge of the tp. A paper business card cut into a triangle worked well to get into the corners. I got alot of dirt out but nothing that would make me think it was causing the problem. When I reinstalled the keyboard ribbon, it felt like it seated more firmly than it was when I removed it. Could the keyboard cause the trouble with tp? Anyway, it appears to be working properly. thanks for the help.
This was typed with the machine. -
Looks like you cured Parkinsons, congratulations.

Ooooh... trout. Yum. *Breathes fire on it* Broiled trout better. -
Thanks for all the support. You have a great forum, keep it up. I have thrown several laptops away because they stop working after taking them mobile (I thought that was why we bought them). After seeing how easy working on a CF-51 and how much knowledge is availble on this forum I had to buy a CF-28, it should be delivered tomorrow. Panasonic should be paying you guys a commisiion!

Ha, if only... I might have money to spend
