    hello all,

does anyone have a copy of the latest bios update for the panasonic toughbook cf-m34?
mine's a CF-M34JADSDE, (assume Mk2 as "J" is the p3 400mhz denotation) i cant find exact specs as the toughbook configurator doesnt allow those letter choices, as each letter is an option you chose if you get my meaning
also whats the fastest mainboard i can fit in it too?
anyone got CF cards working in these machines or just pcmcia?

    any info greatly received

many thanks, is that bios for the "m" series? and does it allow usb boot?
also whats the latest / fastest board that was ever fitted to the m34?
    as i have seen a
    CF-M34 MK7 1Ghz 1.25GB Ram, 160GB HD 8" Screen, wireless
no pictures though, but that would suggest a faster board existed inside the m34 case, do the newer m34 models use a different case?

Latest model is MK7. Up to me, same case if you have LAN (ie 3 doors between the switch and the PCMCIA slot).
MK7 has an additional plastic cover for wifi antenna on the top right of the lid.
About CF cards, just buy a PCMCIA to CF converter.

From the compact flash side I meant the replacing of a traditional hard drive for a compact flash based drive with a IDE to cf adapter to make it more drop proof, also I have a bootable PCMCIA ubuntu card which I so far I haven't been able to get to work on the m34 but have had it working on other machines
also has anyone ever upgraded a mainboard, as all the shell/cases are the same tried dropping in a 700 or 800 MHz board with succesful results

How many drives will the onboard HD controller support? I have seen people use the 2.5 to 3.5" convertors off the ribbon cable to drive a 5 1/4" cd drive to boot but no pictures of a dual ribbon off a desktop that would allow booting off a cd drive and install onto a 2.5" has anyone managed this? Only place I have seen it so far is on flickr where a guy has used the multiple convertors
