    was just watching some Discovery Channel, they had a segment on how they were filming the shuttle launch and what have you, when what do I see ? heh, my beloved 51 at work... :) managed a couple of screens (almost killed myself jumping across the room to get to the keyboard):

    I think it is just a relatively old 14" Panasonic which I have seen been sold cheaper recently (in Europe). Not bad, but I don't like its low screen resolution and I suspect the screen is not bright enough.

    The analog - BENQ Joybook 7000 or S72 is the same well built, but it has
    better screen and good keyboard. A hint for NASA. :)

    Unfortunately, BENQ laptops are not available on the US market (afaik).

    Dude, are you blind? Can't you compare the "screenshots" with jaydee's avatar? Man, you broke his heart by saying his sonoma notebook is a cheap old notebook!

    Ohh, sorry sorry sorry then!!! I didn't know it is his lappy! I see it now. :eek:

    It might look like an older model (like old and new IBMs all look similar). Nevertheless, I have no doubts about the ultimate quality of Panasonic notebooks which, unfortunately, are by far above my current financial possibilities.

    Congratulations to those who have opportunity to enjoy using them!

    Is his CF51 model with 15" UXGA (1600x1200) screen (this it great then!!) or just with 15" 1024x768 (XGA) (this one doesn't impress me too much)?

    just for the sake of making a point...
    - when a guy says "look, here's a picture of TB51 in action" that means there's a TB51 in that picure, no guessing necessary :cool:
    - it's nothing like the IBMs because there's nothing that looks like TB51 (short of TB50, and that has a white keyboard); certainly not a 14" model

    that's good. now what on earth does Benq's budget stuff have to do with this :eek:

    to be honest this thing was way above my financial... errr... common sense or sanity if you will, but I wanted it so bad for so long that I just had to get it in the end. took a lot of waiting, sacrifices and signing a pact with the devil for the next 3 years ;) but I wouldn't have it any other way. I was considering an Asus as a cheaper alternative for now, but this TB51 is the ONLY notebook in the world that has everything just the way I wanted so that was the final decision...

    mine is the XGA screen because that's what I wanted, seeing how that is the only sane resolution for that size of screen
