Yes it is very cheap
I have not used this type for years , but I remember the difference between the newer type and this is that they need the External Active GPS antenna for best reception

There are all sorts of cheap GPS alternatives out there... Which are fine if it is just for the fun of having it. But if your life or paycheck depends on it... I wouldn't fool with anything except a state of the art system.
But... To each, his own. -

I only tryed one pcmcia gps ,an older type like the one linked, and I don't like the idea of having it hanging out the side of the Toughbook
If it needs an external antenna for best reception , then a external Sirflll usb gps is the best choice @$50-$75
