    Hi all.

I have two questions, I searched the threads but was not able to find a deffinite answer so I will just ask.

Is it possible to put a 1000mhz mobo into a 600mhz case? and will the screen on the 600mhz work for the 1000mhz.

    Thanks.

It sounds like you really do not have enough information. You do not list computers, motherboards, processors, screen sizes/models, etc, etc.

We would need all of that to really give you an answer.

I'll be honest though...given what I see, I highly doubt that an upgrade would be feasible or possible.

do these messages go to all the threads, I thought I was posting in the panasonic thread.

anyway, they are both panasonic cf-28 laptops, one is a 600mhz with a good screen and the other is a 1000mhz with a bad screen.

    hope this helps.

According to Modly, the MB swap from 1000mhz to 600mhz case IS theoretically possible, tho prolly more trouble than it's worth. There has been a lot of reported success with using the 600mhz LCDs on the 1000mhz bottom half tho; it takes a bit of finagling on the wires because the connector is in a different place on the 1000mhz MB. Do a search for MB swap or MOBO swap in our forum, you'll get a lot of information.

    mnem-

Thanks for that, I will do another search, I just wanted to know if it could be done, the case on the 1000mhz is pretty beat up.

    Thanks again.

Most of the posts made in this forum revolve around the "Fully Ruggedized" versions of the Panasonic Toughbook series laptops; in fact, more precisely, the CF-28 Series are the most common subject. As these laptops have processors soldered to the MB for durability reasons, the ENTIRE laptop is referred to by the processor speed as sort of a shorthand for those of us regulars in the forum to know which version one is referring to. We ALL know what he/she means when someone says 600, 800, 1000 or Mk1, Mk2, Mk3; it's just one of the nuances.

The tone of your reply seems a little condescending to those of us who do know what's being asked about, and it kindof was the "regulars" he was asking this question of.

    U Bet... oh and D'OH!

Also try a search on LCD swap or Touchscreen in this forum as well; sometimes you need to include the phrase CF-28 or Toughbook in any search to weed out stuff from other forums. As I recall, the outer (top cover, not the bezel) lid from some 600mhz models will fit on the later models, as long as it has the "ears" on the sides by the front corners. I plan to try it on mine once I complete my WIFI experimentating.

I had a truly giving idea once, but alas, I gave it away.

It sounds like you are the one without enough information with regards to Panasonic toughbook.

I encourage you to buy at least one Cf-28 and you will not be dissapointed.

The 800/1000 boards do NOT physically screw into the 600 case. (Not the top half anyways!). I've found you can use the bottom half.

Greg; shhh. We've got this one. Us Panasonic guys know what he means ;)

As for screen compatibility, I've been lazy/occupied/went on vacation to check if it'll kick the screen on with my fully assembled bottom half. I should really get on that soon!
