Yeah, it's down. Last friday, I had an overheat, then on Sunday a power surge blew it (and another box in the house). Cheap surge protectors...

My laptops, and my old gaming box weren't plugged in, so they are all I can use for now.

Hoping the insurance co. will get back with me soon. Otherwise, I'm waiting for some extra cash to buy a new box.

G5 1.8GHz single processor, 2 GB RAM, 1TB raid array (SonnetTech 4i+4e PCI-X raid controller), and all the usual goodies you'd expect in a box.

I bought a new dual processor G5 which is at my brother's place in Van Nuys, CA, but he has no packing material or access to cheap boxes, so it'd cost me over $100 to get a box to him, then back to me safely, so I'm having him sell it.

eBay auctions with local pickup only provide great deals, so we'll make a few bucks on it, but I'm sad I can't ship it cheaper.

If it sells tomorrow though, I should have money on Monday to buy one I see locally on Craigslist.

I don't have time to waste with my insurance co.. Bastards are playing phone tag with me.

I wouldn't trust it in packing material. I've seen too many of these on eBay that were poorly shipped that look like they were dropped.

We've got two people that want to buy it tomorrow though, and we'll make over $400 on the deal so I can't complain...

Edit; and on the subject of UPS... I'm going to buy one :D Perhaps it'll protect my next box.

I have all the manuals that modly was hosting, and a few of the drivers hosted at rant-zone.com if anyone is interested. I'd like to build the collection if anyone has some they'd like to put up there. Like my sig. says I'm also taking suggestions. If anyone has a walk-thru for installing, or tweaking some aspect of a toughbook, any flavor, All I really need is a plain text file to add a page for it. If there's some pictures that go along with it that's fine too, I'd be glad to put it up there.

My other G5 that was at my brother's place is now sold, so tomorrow or monday I can buy this other one.

I'll have the new server up for the New Year!

So if all goes well, I'll have a dual 2.3GHz G5 system, and a 1.25TB storage capacity ;)

I sure can. I'm about to head out the door to go pick this new box up, so with some luck I'll have a new server by the end of the night.

I'm back up and live. I'll have a brief downtime next week when my APC UPS comes to my door, but I think I'll be solid for a while now.

I've got more RAM to put in, but I'll wait til I shut it down next week...
