What is the full model number of your CF-18? Do you have GPS? You may be able to go into Device Manager and disable Serial Ballpoint Mouse if so... There also may be a Registry Patch..... Post your complete model number for more info and you may want to read the stickies at the top of the forum....

Hm, maybe this has more to do with synaptics?

Or it could be the touchpad driver. See if you can download it and load it on your notebook.

the mouse going crazy? how long has that been d=going on for? there could be a fairly serious issue! - the mouse is probably hungry, in which case remove the battery and insert thin slivers of cheese (a fairly hard, medium strength works best, a mature cheddar or suchlike) inside the machine to see if that cures the problem.

If the problem doesnt go away, then things get a bit more complex - the mousey could be derranged, inwhich case you need to replace it... and this is harder than it sounds... the buggers have sharp teeth! your best bet is to aquire a small cat, pop him in the Media bay and he can hopefully creep round and take the mouse by surprise! just enure your laptop has been off and is cool, or else cats tend to make themselves cosy! then you have a different problem, requiring the assistance of a small dog......................

Did someone call for a cat :D
I think Toughbook nailed the answer, its the GPS making the o/s believe that a serial ballpoint mouse is connected and the resolution is to disable that device in your divice manager ,or download the gps driver patch from the Panasonic downloads site for your model
