It would be nice if someone would write a custom driver. I have hundreds of those mouse pads

There is a small application that will flip and reverse the touchpad. I will not be able to remember the name of it.
I made this same mistake a few years back.

I even fabricated an adapter to flip the output wires from the trackpad. Only has four connections. That worked great for me.

For all that you have problems with inverted axis (as moving from original touchpad model N2EAYYY00022 to older touchpad model N2EABEC00006) you can resolve this problem with Sakasa Mouse. This small utility that works instantly after is run (Work on XP, 7 and also 10). It can be used as startup programs and you will have instantly mouse working perfectly after Windows start.

N2EABEC00006 has the advantage is more easily to find and also is much more cheaper.

I dont know about Linux but i'm sure there is an utility for penguin lovers too. :)

You can get it from HERE http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA026826/sakasa103.zip

August 01, 2011 11:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time

Interlink’s VersaPad is a resistive touchpad that uses a unique pressure sensing technology, enabling exceptionally light touch and smooth tracking. Unaffected by moisture and other contaminants, the VersaPad is operable with any glove or passive stylus, and may be environmentally sealed to NEMA 4X / IP65 standards. This compelling combination makes the VersaPad ideally suited to the harsh environments in which the Panasonic Toughbook excels. The VersaPad is supported by a mouse driver which provides users with an advanced feature set and multi-language support.

Last year, Interlink announced that Panasonic had chosen VersaPad® for its upgraded Panasonic Toughbook® 31 rugged laptop. Both Toughbook® computers are designed for use in mission-critical situations by first responders, military personnel and field workers in such industries as telecommunications, utilities and energy.
